In a few years, all new cars will be required to have rear-view camera systems, based on a recent ruling by the NHTSA. Nissan's getting a head start by showing its new Smart Review Mirror in the US for the first time at this week's New York International Auto Show. Equipped on a Rogue crossover, the dual-mode mirror combines traditional mirror view with an LCD display showing video feed from the camera mounted in back.

With the world becoming a global market place, car manufacturers sometimes run into problems when they name new vehicles. It’s hard to take all the various languages around the world into account every time you have a new product, but every now and then not doing the research could cost sales.
Workers at two Fiat factories in Italy recently got a surprise when they returned to their foreign-made vehicles after the day’s work. They found them wrapped in plastic on which was emblazoned a broken heart with the message, “Seeing you with someone else breaks my heart, but we’re still thinking of you.”
When I had my first child I was 22 and I weighed less than 100 pounds. Getting from one place to another in my car was quite a feat for me. It required lugging my purse, diaper bag, infant seat/ car seat, and my son to my vehicle and then, once at my destination, lugging all of it out again. It was cumbersome and heavy. With the recent regulations that require auto manufacturers to reduce CO2 emissions from their vehicles by four percent annually, it’s no surprise that many companies are looking for more creative ways to boost fuel efficiency. At the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, Ford revealed the new F-150 which was made with aluminum instead of steel. Using the lighter metal reduces the weight of the vehicle by 700 pounds compared to the same model the year before.
