SSC Close To Naming The 'Ultimate Aero II' Supercar

SSC Close To Naming The 'Ultimate Aero II' Supercar test 1-1

Should the Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero II make good on its promise of 275 miles per hour, it will place the Ultimate Aero in the ranks of world-record-breaking supercars. The entire world will read its name in newspapers and record books, but what name they'll be reading remains unclear.

Introduced last fall, the car has become popularly known as the Ultimate Aero II. Only Shelby Supercars isn't planning on keeping that name. After all, this is an all-new car; it doesn't look, feel or perform exactly like the original Ultimate Aero, so why should it be considered v 2.0? A car this radical needs a name all its own.

Crack That Piggy Bank: Chrysler Declares Pricing For 2012 SRTs

2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 test 2

True to SRT form, utterly lacking in nonsense, Chrysler has decided to announce the entire pricing scheme for all 2012 SRTs made. In a time of excessive photo teasing and ads which sell an ‘image’ rather than a vehicle, Chrysler’s decision to release all the information in a single move comes off as both bold and refreshing. Indeed, perhaps that’s what makes the entire SRT lineup so tempting. Each vehicle is recklessly straight-to-the-point—even a little barbaric, roaring down Main Street USA with tires shredding through each gear. And that’s why we love American muscle.

Monterey The DXL Way: The Finest In Food, Fun And Ferraris

Monterey the DXL way test 2

I’m sorry if I seem a bit down today, but I’ve got that “Why-is-wealth-wasted-on-the-wealthy?” kind of blues. It’s totally my fault, as I am poor and therefore have no business reading Sports Car Market magazine with an undeserved sense of entitlement.

Sure, everyone likes Ferraris, even those that can’t afford them. And even journalist wretches like yours truly can get into almost every event and function held during the seemingly five-month-long “Pebble Beach Weekend” (try walking it all just once and you’ll see how time-distortion is the BEST by-product of the experience). But even top-shelf Media badges will only get you close enough to the hoi-polloi to see how much better their vantage points, food, company, etc., are than yours.

But now someone’s come along and made everything I thought was “the best you can get” during the Weekend and made it clear that there is DEFINITELY something better (though even MORE out of my price range): their aptly-named “Prestige Adventure.”

TZ3 Stradale: Italian Flair, American Muscle.

TZ3 Stradale: Italian Flair, American Muscle. test 1-1

Odds are, if this is the first time you’re hearing about the TZ3 Stradale, you are never going to own one. Don’t worry, we won’t either. More on that in a moment. First some back story: The TZ3 pays homage the TZ1 which was a tubular steel-framed GT car that debuted in 1963. The TZ1 made good use of a 1.6-liter DOHC inline four cylinder motor. The TZ3 also makes good use of an engine; it just happens to be more than five times that of the original TZ1.

Kia Gets Juice: Two V-8 Concepts Coming in Next Year

Kia Gets Juice: Two V-8 Concepts Coming in Next Year test 1-1

Korean cars have really come a long way in the past few decades. Growing up, I remember the brand "Hyundai" being equivalent to "cheap, Korean junk." But, more recently, Hyundai has established itself as a manufacturer of award-winning and even luxurious automobiles like the Equus and Genesis. It's a whole 'nother Hyundai.

Renault Shows Off Dual-Functioned, Electric Frendzy Concept test 1-1

The hot, long, quiet days of summer are upon us. Being that it's an odd year, means that it's the perfect time to start showing and discussing Frankfurt Motor Show debuts. Renault took just that liberty last week, unveiling a concept that it calls "Frendzy."

The Car Show: Did You Watch It?

The Car Show: Did You Watch It? test 2

In announcing its debut episode Wednesday, I mentioned The Car Show’s key to success—don't be Top Gear—and it seems TCS has taken my advice. Top Gear is more of an entertaining show (at least the BBC version is) that tries to be automotive, whereas The Car Show aims to be an automotive show that tries to be entertaining. The eclectic group of qualified misfits they’ve assembled creates a dynamic group that almost any car enthusiast can relate to in some way.

BMW Launches Interactive Art Car Site test 2

For more than 35 years, the BMW art car has been an institution of both the art and auto worlds. A total of 17 artists have been commissioned by BMW to create the perfect harmony between auto and artwork. Artists including Andy Warhol, Frank Stella and Jenny Holzer have created past versions of the art car, and all can now be found on an interactive website just launched by BMW.

A Hyundai Supercar In The Works?

A Hyundai Supercar In The Works? test 1-1

That's no typo in the title. Hyundai, not Honda. Those of us older than 15 probably can't quite shake the feeling that the term 'Hyundai supercar' is a big, stinking oxymoron. But these days, Hyundai has proved that it can compete with the likes of the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, so why not up the ante to the likes of the Chevy Corvette and Nissan GT-R? A new rumor indicates that's exactly what Hyundai hopes to do.

Rumor: De Tomaso Pantera Coming In Frankfurt test 1-1

De Tomaso has admitted its next car is on the way later this year, but has yet to announce when exactly it will be unveiled. Up until this week, the LA Auto Show had been the popular rumor, but German publication Auto Bild reports that it may just come a few months earlier. According to the magazine, we can expect to see it in about two months.
