Porsche 928 Revival Looking Likely test 1-1

Rumors and reports of a new Porsche 928 have been on the table (and Interwebz) for years now.  According to Autocar, a new front-engined GT coupe, inspired by the original 928 of the 70s, 80s and 90s, is indeed on the way.

Hey, you. Yes, you. Are you driving a brand-new BMW right now? Didn’t think so. [And if you are, shame on you!] Do you want to at some point before or on August 13, 2011? I can make that happen.

We’re talking spending 30 minutes in a 3-, 5- or 7-Series car, X3 SUV or 650i Convertible, with seat time in an equivalent Mercedes-Benz model thrown in for free for all except the drop-top 6 Series.

I know, right? I was totally sold straight away. There was something about the Olympics or some such thing involved, too, but after “free” and “BMW” I stopped listening. Sure enough, when the appointed day and time rolled around, there was a 650i Convertible with my name (electronically) on it sitting at the dealership I selected.

Classic Car Cultist: The BMW 2002

On: Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 3:51PM | By: Chris Salamone

BMW 2002 tii test 2

Produced from 1968 to 1976, BMW’s 2002 Neue Klasse model (New Class for those without the predilection for sauerkraut) completely changed the face and future of BMW motoring for generations to come. So much so, the 2002 became the predecessor for BMW’s dominant 3 Series and 1 Series models and permanently changed BMW’s reputation to one of producing premium uber-touring vehicles. To this day, the 2002 remains a standout amongst BMW’s rich history of revolutionary vehicles—and with good reason. The 2002 was fast, fun, and beautiful. Found in over 262 movies and TV shows, the BMW 2002 is still alive and well within the minds of car fans everywhere.

Lamborghini Takes On Casino In Lawsuit

Lamborghini Takes On Casino In Lawsuit test 1-1

"Lambo vs. The Casino" —now that's a movie I'd go see. Sure as hell sounds better thanTransformers 3. But it's no movie, and it's likely to be far duller and more tedious than any Hollywood blockbuster.

According to the Associated Press, Lamborghini lawyers have filed a trademark lawsuit against the Dal Toro Exotic Car Showroom, Dal Toro Merchandise Gallery and Dal Toro Il Ristorante Italiano in Las Vegas. The businesses are all located in the Palazzo Las Vegas Resort.

Buyers Should Wait Til Fall To Go Small test 2

Small-car prices have hit record highs this year, but they're expected to drop soon, right around the same time that the mercury does.

Small-car prices hit a record high of an average $20,500 in June, but analysts and experts are saying that the average might dip to $19,300 by the end of the year. That's for new cars. For used cars, Kelley Blue Book analysts expect the average to fall from a record $11,300 to around $9,600.

Shelby Supercars: It's The Tuatara

Shelby Supercars: It's The Tuatara test 1-1

If we didn't know any better, we'd swear that the name 'Tuatara' belonged to some exotic, Italian brand. Pagani, for instance. 'Tuatara' and 'Huayra' look like natural supercar stable mates. But, we do know better, and despite the exotic name from across the ocean, the Tuatara is all-American at heart. It's the official name of Shelby Supercars' second car.

Despite Production Delays, Fisker Sells 3,000 Karmas

Despite Production Delays, Fisker Sells 3,000 Karmas test 1-1

It was starting to look like the Fisker Karma was a potential lame duck and market flop. Henrik Fisker's curvy hybrid looked like an innovative contender when it debuted at the 2008 Detroit Motor Show. But after delay upon delay and price undercuts by cars like the Tesla Model S, the Karma seemed like it was bound to flop in the current market.

Fisker announced this week, however, that it's penned in 3,000 preorders and is likely sold out through the end of the year.

Jeep Pickup [Mopar Package] Now Available

Jeep Pickup Mopar Package Now Available test 2

For years, the world has yearned for a Jeep pickup model. Chrysler teased it in 2005 with the Jeep Gladiator concept; Mopar poked it with a stick last year with the NuKizer 715, but the market has remained empty. Until now. You can now get your Jeep pickup, but it's going to take a little more than just waltzing into your local Jeep/Chrysler showroom and demanding a test drive.

Jeep is rumored to be developing an actual pickup model, a spiritual successor to the pickups of old. Unfortunately, the most recent word says that the pickup is a pretty low priority at Chrysler at the moment, given the money pouring into fewer niche products. So it's unknown if or when we can expect an actual Jeep pickup model.

Mercedes SLC: It's About Time!

Mercedes SLC: It's About Time! test 1-1

It seems a bit long overdue, but it has finally been confirmed that Mercedes is finally building a Porsche/Corvette fighting sports coupe. Sure the SLK Roadster is a lot of fun, but the fact of the matter is it just can’t compete on the track with anything more than 250 horsepower. Even with its new redesign, it’s a fun car, but real enthusiasts aren’t going to flock towards it, no matter how pretty. On the other end of the spectrum, the drop-dead gorgeous high-end SLS AMG is a premium blend bruiser. Unlike the mass produced SLK, the SLS AMG is too exotic, and far too expensive for most enthusiasts to afford, or to drive with any amount of regularity (presuming they want to preserve it to any extent). So Mercedes has solved that problem by creating car in between the two that will be called the SLC.

SSC Close To Naming The 'Ultimate Aero II' Supercar

SSC Close To Naming The 'Ultimate Aero II' Supercar test 1-1

Should the Shelby Supercars Ultimate Aero II make good on its promise of 275 miles per hour, it will place the Ultimate Aero in the ranks of world-record-breaking supercars. The entire world will read its name in newspapers and record books, but what name they'll be reading remains unclear.

Introduced last fall, the car has become popularly known as the Ultimate Aero II. Only Shelby Supercars isn't planning on keeping that name. After all, this is an all-new car; it doesn't look, feel or perform exactly like the original Ultimate Aero, so why should it be considered v 2.0? A car this radical needs a name all its own.
