Review of the 2017 Audi Q7: The Future Is Here

Review of the 2017 Audi Q7: The Future Is Here test 1-1

In case you hadn't noticed, some people were very disappointed when 'Back to the Future Day' came and went on October 21, 2015. The time we live in is nothing like the futuristic scenario Marty McFly ended up in while attempting to save his future. There are no flux capacitors that run on garbage; hell, no flux capacitors at all, in fact. No hoverboards, no automatically lacing Nikes, and, most notably, no flying cars. Yet, while we may all have been a little bummed at our inability to fly around in a Buick, we should look back and realize just how far we've come. It wasn't too long ago that people from my time looked forward to one day being able to buy a car that had things like power door locks, power windows, or maybe even ABS! Luxurious amenities like a moonroof, heated seats, and the like were nothing more than pipe dreams that only the most well-off, upper-crust could have in their lives. But, look how far we've come in only a couple decades. The options that are available on even the most basic transportation of automobiles embarrasses even the classiest of yesteryear's cars. And if the cheap cars have some futuristic options these days, just what do the nice cars have? Well, the 2017 Audi Q7 is a very good example of just how far into the future we really have come.

 2016 Acura ILX test 2

There comes a point in everyone's life when they have to grow up. It starts with something small, like getting your own credit card, paying your own cell phone bill, or getting your first job to facilitate those things. Then there are bigger steps:  Moving away from home for the first time (not scary at all), or going away to college, or finding that first special someone to share your time with.

Review of the 2016 BMW 340i: Subtle Steps Forward

2016 BMW 340i test 2

When it comes to performance coupes and sedans, not moving forwards is the same as moving backwards. There is so much competition that there is no time to sit on your haunches and relax, even if you are the market leader. No matter how far ahead you might be in one model generation, there are no fewer than four car companies nipping at your heels to create a newer version of their car to beat yours. For 2016, BMW has taken its perennial 3-Series and moved it a couple very small incremental steps forward in an attempt to retain its title as 'best midsize luxury sedan'.

From the outside, it looks as though almost nothing has changed for 2016. The very subtle changes are so slight that only a side-by-side comparison, or a very, very avid Beemer fanatic, could show you the difference. Small fascia changes on the exterior, like slightly resculpting and moving the headlights farther towards the edges of the front fascia, small movements in the taillight positioning, and some metal trim strips on the interior are the only real visually apparent differences between the 2016 model and the outgoing 335i, aside from just a different badge.

Hyundai Recalls 11,000 Genesis Models test 1-1

Hyundai has issued a recall of their halo car, the Hyundai Genesis. There seems to have been a problem with the Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 tires. Apparently these tires may some an inherent flaw from the factory, as some of them have shown a propensity to start to crack along the sidewall. Obviously, cracks in the sidewall of any tire can result not only in air loss; potentially a very dangerous blow out that could cause serious injury or even death in the event of a crash.

The affected Genesis models were 2015 models built between March 3, 2014 through February 9, 2015, and, obviously, equipped with the tires in question. The total number of cars affected number 11,142 in all. Hyundai has said it will notify owners and schedule appointments at dealerships to replace the faulty tires with a different brand of tire that hopefully won't do the same thing. The recall is set to begin February 19, 2016. Questions can be directed to Hyundai's customer service at 855-671-3059. Read on for the full report …
