Buyer Incentives May Come As Detroit Suffers Customer Satisfaction Blow test 2

After seemingly being back after their highly public woes of 2009, American automakers have suffered another blow. It seems that customers just aren't as satisfied with many of Detroit’s brands as they were last year. The American Customer Satisfaction Index has brought bad news to several key American brands and good news to Japanese counterparts.

Bentley Talking Diesel And Hybrid Options

Bentley Talking Diesel and Hybrid Options test 2

If you had to identify the two Bs of sheer environmental carnage and destruction, you couldn't do much better than "Bugatti" and VW stablemate "Bentley." Along with a few other perpetrators like Rolls Royce and Aston Martin, these two Volkswagen ultra-premium brands make up a who's who of the worst EPA ratings. And that happens year after year.

Luckily for them, both Bugatti and Bentley can sit back and rely on more efficient Volkswagen brands to offset the hefty numbers choked out by their massive-engined, heavy-bodied sports and luxury offerings. But that doesn't mean the brands aren't at least looking at ways of becoming more fuel efficient and eco-friendly. Even the richest of the rich want to feel good about themselves sometimes.

Ford Revamps An Old Favorite - The 1.0-Liter

2011 Ford Fiesta test 2

The Big Three hasn’t graced the US auto market with a 1.0-liter engine since the early 1990s. But, rising gas prices combined with a sudden consumer appetite for small cars has captured the attention of at least one US automaker: Ford.

At the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show, in September, Ford intends to showcase a 1.0-liter inline 3-cylinder engine which includes all the bells and whistles of modern technology. Their latest 3-cylinder looks to mark significant improvements over engines of yesterday, offering both efficiency and some modicum of fun-factor. In total, the latest 1.0-liter hopes to offer the same or better power as Ford’s current 1.6-liter normally aspirated engine while delivering better fuel economy and reduced emissions.

“No one’s ever built a three-cylinder engine quite like this,” stated Joe Bakaj, Ford Vice President of Global Powertrain Engineering. A bold claim indeed.

Ready To Be Loved, The 2012 Subaru Impreza

2012 Subaru Impreza test 2

While other models like the Forester and Outback have blossomed, the Impreza has been waiting on the metaphorical bench for a much needed update. This Fall, Subaru intends to release the latest redesigned Impreza into dealerships. So far, so good. Positive reviews are pouring in from all around the auto industry, not least of which is Motor Trend’s First Look which proclaims the Impreza has “the right stuff.” Subaru is the only carmaker in the industry to post consecutive sales increases over the past three years and the latest Impreza looks like it will likely contribute to the company’s success.

Michael McHale, Subaru’s head of corporate communications, recently stated that “With the 2012 Impreza, we’re heavy up on style, and we’re heavy up on fuel efficiency. That’s where we go next.”

And they’re not joking.

Largest Display of James Bond Cars Ever Coming to U.K. test 2

James Bond is more than just a movie character; he's the epitome of manhood. To be cliche, women want him and men want to be him. What man hasn't watched a James Bond flick and fantasized, even just for a moment, about being a wealthy, debonair international hero that always gets the girl. And the car.

Yes, James Bond's famous wheels rival only his catch phrases and girls in defining the timeless icon. Whether it's the 1964 Aston Martin DB5 from "Goldeneye" or the 1999 BMW Z8 from "The World is Not Enough," the car was as much a main character as the actor driving it. Many of the world's hottest marquees—Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Lotus and so on—starred in a James Bond flick at one point or another, and now the largest collection of those cars is coming to a U.K. museum exhibition.

Chrysler To Drop Prices on Select 2012 Sedans and Crossovers test 2

The price boost often experienced from one model year to the next is nothing new in the automotive industry. In fact, many consumer goods increase by a small percentage each year due to factors like inflation and rising costs. What is a little more rare is year-to-year price cuts. But Chrysler will be doing just that as it moves from the 2011 to 2012 model year. It will offer base-trim price cuts on three different Chrysler and Dodge models, including the well-advertised Chrysler 200.

Virtual Tour Of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi (Video)

Virtual Tour Of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi test 2

If you're a huge sports car nut, chances are you love (or at least like a teensie bit) Ferraris. Who doesn't love those shiny, red, powerful stallions? Unfortunately, chances also point to the fact that you probably won't be visiting the ultimate Ferrari theme park—Abu Dhabi's Ferrari World—anytime soon. Now that's not true of everyone, but it can be a little difficult to plan a trip halfway around the world just to get your kicks at an adult theme park—what with so many places to see, and so little time and/or money to visit.

Luckily for you, we live in the age where we can travel around the world from the comfort of a desk chair. If you plan a trip to Abu Dhabi, you may want to skip this post and wait for the real thing. If, like me, you don't, read on and enjoy a virtual tour of the park.

Ferrari Leaning Toward V-12 For New Enzo

Ferrari Leaning Toward V-12 For New Enzo test 2

Last fall, Fiat unraveled a Ferrari road map detailing what cars were coming over the next few years and when we could expect them. From that, we know that Ferrari has saved its juiciest releases for next year. The company will unveil a successor for the Enzo as well as a replacement for its current flagship 599 GTB. A new Auto News report this week lends a closer look at these two cars.

According to the latest, Ferrari is leaning toward a V-12 engine for the next Enzo, which is being called the F70 internally. That contradicts an Autocar report from this past spring that Ferrari was thinking twin-turbo V-8 for the flagship. The V-12 is likely to carry somewhere in the range of 700 to 800 horses.

Ferrari FF Buyers To Get Winter Driving Course In Aspen

Ferrari FF Buyers To Get Winter Driving Course In Aspen test 1-1

Ferrari. Aspen. For decades the two terms have been linked by a simple concept: the glamorous and the wealthy. Those with money and fame have long loved their Ferraris and have long loved winter retreats in the U.S. capital of snow and riches.

With the introduction of the Ferrari FF Grand Tourer, there's now a new link between the Prancing Horse and Aspen: all-wheel drive. Yes, all-wheel drive is more than just a performance-enhancing nicety in the Roaring Fork Valley; it's a near-necessity in the winter months. So, it's no surprise that Ferrari will use Aspen as the background for a winter driving course being offered to FF customers.

Next-Gen Lotus Exige Gets Bigger With V-6

Next-Gen Lotus Exige Gets Bigger With V-6 test 2

Lotus is teetering on the brink of a head-to-toe revamp. The company has five new models in store for the next few years, and will make a strong move upmarket. While its new models will be the most visible part of this revamp, older models will also be taking a step in a new direction. According to recent reports, the Exige will be getting a little more aggressive, both inside and out.

The 1.8-liter Toyota inline four that powers the current Exige and Elise went out of production last year. The next-generation Exige will therefore have to look elsewhere for motivation. It will reportedly find its engine in the 3.5-liter Toyota V-6 from the Evora. As such, the model will get wider and longer, as can be seen in the zebra-camoed prototype snapped in Hethel.
