Is the 2014 Buick Enclave Vomit-Proof?

Is the 2014 Buick Enclave Vomit-Proof? test 1-1

I get car sick. It’s worse in the back seat and is triggered mostly by reading while the car is moving. This is a problem since usually my husband drives and I am expected to navigate to previously unvisited destinations. I was so happy when GPS navigation arrived. Now he can listen to a pleasant and relaxed voice giving him directions instead of my nauseous and frustrated voice just telling him where to go.

Minor Recall Avoids a Major Problem test 1-1

It appears Chrysler is taking no chances when it comes to avoiding GM’s issue with waiting too long to recall problem vehicles. The automaker has announced a recall on just 159 trucks with a potential transmission fault.

For Whom the Bridge Trolls

For Whom the Bridge Trolls test 1-1

Several weeks ago I found myself in traffic on a three-lane interstate inching forward with long intervals not moving at all. I don’t do well in these situations. I wasn’t far from my destination, however, and after taking almost an hour to move less than a mile, I finally left the mess behind and took my exit. Except it wasn’t my exit. It was one exit shy of the one I wanted. This wouldn’t have been much of a problem except that this exit led me onto a toll road. Also not a big deal except this toll booth was unmanned, accepted only exact change or EZ-pass and I had neither. I am awaiting my bill in the mail.

Take Note of This Awesome Paint

Take Note of This Awesome Paint test 1-1

When I was a child I loved the car wash. Not the driveway model or the fundraising model which required hands on application of cleaning products and a muscle-powered wax job. No, I liked the drive-through ones that felt a little scary, like you were traveling through the belly of a monster. While these were a time saving marvel when they first hit the market, they may soon be making way for more modern technology such as a product Nissan engineers are currently testing.

Five Cool Songs About Cars and Driving

Low Rider test 2

Driving a car is more than just a matter of getting from point A to point B. This is especially true when you are old enough to drive, but too young to live on your own. I can remember when my car was like my living room on wheels. One thing that I would certainly have in my living room at the time was a good stereo, so there was always music filling up my ride.

A lot of people would agree with me when I say that music and driving your car go hand-in-hand. With this in mind, let's look back at five cool songs about cars and driving.

Decide to Save Lives test 1-1

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 3,328 people were killed and another 421,000 were injured in accidents caused by distracted driving in 2012. The numbers from 2013 are not available yet, but with the number of electronic devices growing it seems likely that those numbers will rise. If you know someone who is guilty of not keeping their eyes on the road, but you don’t feel comfortable reprimanding them for it, you might want to check out a new website called Decide to Drive at www.decidetodrive.org.

'66 Corolla test 2

Many different car models have come and gone over the years. Some have been successful for brief periods of time, some have been stalwarts for decades, and there are others that have been total flops.

Weird News: GM Sales Are Up

Weird News: GM Sales Are Up test 1-1

The numbers are in for the first quarter of 2014, and they are a bit surprising. General Motors, the company with the biggest recall catastrophes of late, seem to be leading the pack in car sales. With all the negative publicity and public outrage this hardly seems possible but, as they say, numbers don’t lie.

Uh-O-ring, VW's Voluntary Recall

Uh-O-ring, VW's Voluntary Recall test 1-1

My boyfriend’s mode of transportation in high school was a late 60s Volkswagen Beetle. If you moved the floor mats in the back you could see the road go by. It got great gas mileage but it ran only about half the time and needed constant mechanical upkeep. My boyfriend liked to work on it, but it was frustrating not to have the use of it when we needed it. One of our friends skirted this common problem by purchasing an extra engine. He had one in the frame running the car and one in the garage being repaired at all times. But those were simpler times and cars had simpler engines.
