Hybrid or Hellraiser? 2015 Lexus CT200h vs. 2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3

Hybrid or Hellraiser? 2015 Lexus CT200h vs. 2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3 test 1-1

In most Hybrid or Hellraiser columns, I start by making a tasteless poop joke about hybrid drivers, then end by trying to convince you that driving a gas-guzzling muscle car will somehow make you a better person. But I'm not going to do that this time. Because small hatchbacks like the 2015 Lexus CT200h and 2013 Mazda Mazdaspeed3, actually offer everything that you need to live a rewarding life. Sort of like Metamucil for the Soul! (oh crap, I just made a poop joke) Anyway, it’s time to figure out if you should drive the pricey hybrid, or the insane used alternative...

Buying a Used Car: Cheap Gas Changes Everything

 Gas test 2

As a geezer, I'm at a disadvantage in certain ways. I used to have game, but now the only hops I have are in the micro-brews in my fridge. Cats standing on the sidelines at the playground aren't asking me to run with them anymore. That kind of hurts my feelings, but I don't have to put down my forty, and that's always a consolation.

U.S. Auto Makers Miss the Super Bowl

U.S. Auto Makers Miss the Super Bowl test 1-1

It’s nearly Super Bowl time again which means everyone is laying in supplies for chicken wings, various dips for various chips, and mapping out the best viewing position in their living rooms. Yes, Americans across the country wait all year for this. Sure, the football is great and everyone wants their team to win, but admit it, we are also eager to see the commercials. Advertisers routinely save their best commercials to be unveiled during the Super Bowl. Personally, I prefer college football, so I wait for the half hour special of nothing but the best commercials after the game.

How To Do Everything Wrong Just Right When Buying a Vehicle on Craigslist

How To Do Everything Wrong Just Right When Buying a Vehicle on Craigslist test 1-1

Never buy a car at night. Never buy a car in the rain. Never bring thousands of dollars in cash to a nearby-yet-unfamiliar-to-you city to a transaction site set up by a person you’ve never met—and who, of course, has an out-of-state phone number—to purchase a car about which you know nothing but what you’ve read and seen in a generic-looking Craigslist ad.

Any idiot knows how batcrap-crazy you’d have to be to buy a pack of gum this way, let alone something as expensive—both to initially buy and then to fix once all its warts reveal themselves in the harsh light of day—as a luxury SUV.

Well, I am proud to say I am certainly not just any idiot. That’s right, folks. I am THE idiot. And welcome to the tale of how I got a better vehicle that I could’ve hoped for despite doing everything I possibly could to get myself cheated, robbed or worse in the process.

Anti-Grinch Steps In; Stolen Mustang Returned test 1-1

When you have something stolen from you, before long you come to the understanding that you are never going to see the property again. You may report the theft to the police, and you may have some hope, but it starts to fade after a couple of weeks go by.

Over the last 20 years or so, sport utility vehicles have taken the country by storm. You have countless different options available to you if you want to be able to grip the road during winter snowstorms, and many of these vehicles are actually quite luxurious.

The Most Interesting Toyota Camry...Ever!!

The Most Interesting Toyota Camry...Ever!! test 1-1

The words "wow" and "holy crap", have never been used to describe a Toyota Camry. This silently-snooty transportation device has mastered mediocrity and elevated adequacy to an art form. They sell like hotcakes because everybodyknows that you “can’t go wrong with a Camry”. But Toyota’s CEO recently decreed that forthcoming cars bearing his family name, be injected with some excitement. And this 2015 Toyota Camry has just annihilated our perception of the most boring car on earth.

If you’ve watched TV in the last month, then you’ve probably seen those commercials with Matthew McConaughey riding around in a 2015 Lincoln MKC, contemplating the deeper truths of life. Well, Jim Carrey saw them too, and he teamed up with the comedic masterminds at Saturday Night Live to make some perfectly executed parodies. Prepare to laugh...
