McLaren To Change MP4-12C Based On Driver Input

McLaren To Change MP4-12C Based On Driver Input test 2

I highly doubt any customer complained about the lack of fruitiness in the McLaren MP4-12C. In fact, the words "fruity" and "McLaren" don't really belong in the same sentence, lest you happen to be transporting a fruit basket to a sick relative by way of MP4-12C. Still, McLaren has made a few alterations to its mid-engined muscle car, and at least one component has gotten "fruitier."

Ferrari Brings Free Maintenance Program To North America test 2

Got the coin to order a 2012 Ferrari but can’t afford to maintain it? Well, you no longer have to worry about that—at least not for the next seven years—thanks to the firm’s newly announced Genuine Maintenance Program.

You read that right; Ferrari North America is “happy to announce a new customer care service: clients ordering a 2012 Ferrari California, 458 Italia or FF from the authorized dealership network will be entitled to a free seven-year scheduled maintenance program.”

First U.S. Pagani Huayra A Test Dummy?

First U.S. Pagani Huayra A Test Dummy? test 2

When Pagani announced that its all new, 700-hp Huayra was coming to the United States, it was sort of a big deal. The last Pagani model—the ever-powerful Zonda—was never sold in the States because it wasn't up to U.S. regulations. As the Zonda was the first Pagani ever made, that means that the Huayra is the first Pagani model to be offered in the U.S. You can almost hear the sounds of multi-millionaires with something to prove peeing their pants all over the country.

A Lesson In Distaste: Miami GT Kit Car From DDR Motorsport

On: Tue, Jul 26, 2011 at 9:24AM | By: Chris Weiss

Miami GT Kit Car From DDR Motorsport test 2

Ever want to transform your otherwise legitimate but perhaps somewhat plebeian sports coupe into a generic, McLaren F1/Saleen S7 supercar knockoff? You're in luck, but only if your sports coupe is a circa 2002 to 2006 Acura RSX, 1997 to 2002 Chevrolet Corvette or 1989 to 1996 Toyota MR-2. The Miami GT kit car from DDR Motorsports transforms your car into a super-machine (at least in terms of looks).

WHY? The Mercury Cougar-Based Bugatti Veyron

WHY? The Mercury Cougar-Based Bugatti Veyron test 2

I always thought it would be cool to mount a massive supercar engine into an unassuming everyday commuter like a Toyota Corolla. Imagine pulling up to a stop light next to a Camaro or 911, looking the guy right in the eye, stepping on the pedal ever-so-slightly to let him know you were serious, and then just blowing him away in your Lamborghini-V12-powered Corolla. It would be truly awesome.

Less awesome, but more affordable, would be designing an everyday car—let's say a Mercury Cougar—to look like a supercar. The car featured here may look like a Bugatti Veyron, but it's miserably underpowered.

Bentley Chief Says SUV On The Way

Bentley Chief Says SUV On The Way test 2

It really shouldn't come as any surprise at this point. Everyone else is doing it, so why not Bentley? Plus, Bentley SUV rumors are nothing new; they've been around since SUVs were actually topical.

According to German magazine Auto Motor und Sport, Bentley is planning to build an SUV to compete with other luxury SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover. And the magazine received the word from Bentley chief (and former Porsche exec) Wolfgang Durheimer.

The [WH]Y-Files: All-Chrome McMerc SLR Terrorizes London Streets

The [WH]Y-Files: All-Chrome McMerc SLR Terrorizes London Streets test 1-1

The Mercedes SLR McLaren has been the subject victim of some of the worst tunes of all time. I actually did a list of terrible tunes a few years ago, and the SLR showed up for three of the 10. And if I updated that list today, a new Brabus SLR creation would bump one of those other choices right off the top 10 to make it four of 10.

Lotus Evora S: Cayman Killer!

Lotus Evora S: Cayman Killer! test 1-1

First impressions are everything. Climb inside the newest Lotus on the market, and instantly you know it is something special. The two-tone cockpit surrounds you like a glove. Two big gauges sit front and center to give you the most important data, while an Alpine stereo and navigation unit sit off to the side and take care of everything else in terms of entertainment and navigation.  Depress the traditional heavy-duty clutch pedal (thank God), and you'll notice the light effort thanks to an upgraded master cylinder. Fire up the Toyota(!)-sourced 3.5-liter V6—yes, mostly the same V6 you would find in a Camry, except this motor has been massaged by Lotus a bit to bring out a little more Mr. Hyde from the humble Dr. Jeckyl engine. Better flowing intake and exhaust manifolds combined with Lotus-designed engine management and, oh yeah, a supercharger bolted on for good measure will make your ears second guess exactly how many cylinders your eyes have sworn they saw under the hood.

Definitely Dartz: Red Chromed Bugatti Veyron

Definitely Dartz: Red Chromed Bugatti Veyron test 1-1

Russian tuning/armored vehicle firm Dartz has a way of messing around with endangered species. First, it had to publicly retract the "whale penis" leather option from one of its armored SUVs. And now it's ruined the Bugatti Veyron, a car that is in itself an endangered species thanks to the fact that the production run of the Veyron 16.4 is about over.

The Baddest Jag Ever?

The Baddest Jag Ever? test 1-1

For those of you old enough to remember the XJ220, you will recall that it is very hard to forget. It was literally the fastest car in the world for quite some time. Sleek, ungodly powerful, and a vision to behold (if you were so lucky to catch one standing still). However, as with all things, time marches on and progress is, of course, inevitable. It has taken nearly two decades, but the British feline company has finally built a better all-around performer than their legendary poster-child and that car is the 2012 XKR-S.
