Ferrari FF Is 2011 Neiman Marcus Car test 2

Every year, Neiman Marcus selects a hot sports or luxury car to be featured in its famed Christmas Book, the shopping list of the rich, ultra-rich, and even richer. Last year it was a sexy Chevy Camaro Convertible with light-changing Deep Bordeaux paint.

This year, Neiman Marcus has chosen the all-new Ferrari FF grand tourer to appear on the Fantasy Gift list in its catalog.

Acura NSX Debuting Next Month?

Acura NSX Debuting Next Month? test 2

Well, this seems to be moving just a little too fast to be believable, but who knows. The long-rumored Acura NSX revival got official confirmation from Honda chief Takanobu Ito just two months ago. Then more details. And now reports that a near-production-ready concept of the car could debut as early as the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show in November/December, with a production version following next year.

Color us skeptical, but we won't be all that disappointed if no NSX concept shows up in Tokyo. Carscoop reports that Honda sources said the launch is tentative and could very well get pushed back due to the delays and problems that Honda and other Japanese automakers have experienced after the natural disasters earlier this year.

OK, so maybe you already own a bachelor pad and therefore find the second-home-sized Ferrari tour bus I just covered more-than-a-little too large for your lifestyle.

Fear not, gentle reader, for there’s another one-of-one custom Ferrari that has a liaison-sized interior going up for auction at RM’s London sale, and this one isn’t the size of a wingless jumbo jet.

Yes, before Porsche had even thought of the Panamera, before Aston-Martin succumbed to Rapide fever and long before Lamborghini even entertained the Estoque, there was a top-shelf exotic car maker that toyed with the idea of adding another set of doors aft of the two God intended be there: Ferrari.

Sort of.

It’s an age-old quandary: Sure, your Ferrari attracts the ladies, but wouldn’t it be great if you could skip the whole “driving somewhere to tryst” stage of the evening by going straight from the “Let’s get out of here” to the “Welcome to my basement. We have to be quiet, though, as my mom’s asleep upstairs” without any messy driving-about?

If only there was a Ferrari that WAS somewhere to tryst. Not only would it save you from any embarrassing “What the hell are you kids doing down there?!” type yelling from rudely-awakened parental-types (plus, you could get well and truly hammered if you chose to as there's no driving on the menu).

Well, you and your lady friend no longer have to worry about such things as Ferrari has handed over its own house-on-wheels to RM Auctions so that you—and every other dude in this predicament—can financially fight over it at the firm’s London sale on Oct. 26.

Another Anonymous Supercar: Genty Akylone

Another Anonymous Supercar: Genty Akylone test 2

Lately we've been covering about as much vaporware from random upstarts as we have legitimate supercars. In the former category, we have things like the Rimac Concept One, Transtar Racing Dagger GT, and Joss JP1.  In the latter, we have the actual supercars from established brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Pagani. The latter we know will get built and hit the market, while the former we half expect to disappear into the void of Internet buzz-that-once-was.

Still, it's hard not to be a little intrigued by the promise of a hot new supercar. So we'll tell you all about the Genty Akylone even if we're not sure that anyone will ever buy one.

Porsche Unveils The 2012 911 In North America

Porsche Unveils The 2012 911 In North America test 2

Porsche fans who attended the Rennsport Reunion IV last week got an extra bonus. The race event held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, was the first event in the Rennsport series. The Rennsport series was the first to be held on the West Coast, and it attracted the largest crowd in event history—this was the largest gathering of Porsche fans. Fans got to see lots of Porsches—indeed, they got to see some of the most successful Porsche racing cars in the history of the marque.

It was also an opportune time for Porsche to release the new 2012 911 Carrera for the first time in North America. This was the thoroughly redesigned car, known internally as the 991. If you were expecting a “new” Porsche, well, you should know by now that Porsche doesn’t really redesign the 911. In fact, the first 911 released in 1965 bears a strong resemblance to the “new” 911. Of course, the new car boasts reduced weight, increased power, and some of the latest technology inside and out, but in terms of looks, the new 2012 911 is very, very similar to the 2011. However, this is a good time to increase prices, so expect that.

2012 Lotus Evora IPS: An Automatic Lotus, Say It Ain't So!

On: Fri, Oct 21, 2011 at 1:01PM | By: Lou Ruggieri

2012 Lotus Evora IPS test 2

Taking a quick look at the latest Evora coming off the Lotus production line, it looks a lot like the 2011 version—visceral, unique, and gorgeous. No complaints there, right? Right. But then go in a little closer and you might be in for a bit of a bump on the head. Once you come to and lift yourself off the pavement, you'll realize that what you saw was, in fact, reality: controls for an automatic transmission inside a Lotus. Yup, that's right, thanks to you, America (and some of Asia) Lotus has decided to put an automatic transmission in their little hot rod.

McLaren F1 Successor Now Testing

McLaren F1 Successor Now Testing test 2

As nice a car as the McLaren MP4-12C is, it's really just a mid-level super-coupe on par with the Ferrari 458 Italia or Lamborghini Gallardo. There's still a 599 GTB/Aventador LP700-4-level McLaren waiting in the wings. In fact, McLaren aims to surpass even those names, making a true F1 successor that will compete with super-million-dollar, limited run hypercars like the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari Enzo replacement and SSC Tuatara.

According to new reports, McLaren has moved on to the testing phase for its flagship.

Last Pagani Zonda F Roadster Goes Purple

Last Pagani Zonda F Roadster Goes Purple test 2

During the final months of the Pagani Zonda, we've seen pretty much every color of the rainbow. There was a yellow one, a blue one and a purple one. And now...well, it's another purple one. Albeit a deeper, almost maroon purple. It's the last of the limited edition Zonda F Roadsters.

Pagani determined to make 25 Zonda F Roadsters all the way back in 2006 when it first debuted the model. Well, it took a good five years, but this here is number 25. It was commissioned by a customer in the Ukraine, who reportedly has a Zonda R in his garage as well. The model is decked out in purple paint with black carbon scattered around the hood, front-end and other places.

Ferrari 599 Replacement To Break 700 Horses

Ferrari 599 Replacement To Break 700 Horses test 2

We already knew that 2012 is set up to be Year of the Ferrari. While Ferrari will be introducing new models over the next few years (like the recent 458 Spider), 2012 will give us an Enzo successor and a 599 GTB successor. Ferrari's two hottest super-coupes making their debut in the same year means a lot of attention will be on Maranello.

We already heard a few details about the Enzo successor recently, and now we have a little info on the 599. Ferrari confirms that the next 599 will push the bar over 700 hp, 80 hp more than the current 599, and about 30 more than the 599 GTO.

B-J Unloads A Few Mindfreaked-With Customs For The Magicial Criss Angel (& "JD"!)

Welcome to the 200th installment of my series, “I Am in the Wrong Line of Work.” Today’s topic: What the hell’s so freaking special about magicians?

Now I’m not saying that automotive writers don’t get their fair share of the ladies, it’s just that those damn key-swallowing, hand-waving weirdos get way more than theirs. [Sure, maybe those multi-pierced, wannabe Goth/Emo girls aren’t what I’d be looking for, but it hurts me that they never even offer.]

What does this have to do with cars, you ask? Plenty. See, this "Criss Angel" dude—like that’s really the name his mom gave him—decided to unload a few of his “Mindfreak” vehicles at the last Barrett-Jackson sideshow in Vegas—naturally—so now I get to unload a little on him, too.

Let’s see Mr. Magicpants escape from my Tomb of Scathing Invectives!
