Nissan Confirms Juke R Performance Specs

Nissan Confirms Juke R Performance Specs test 2

A Juke R body with the soul of a GT-R sports coupe--that's the recipe for the much publicized Juke R crossover that executives at Nissan weren't too fond of until it became the darling of the auto media. Despite its bulky body, we knew that a 485-bhp powertrain wouldn't be for naught. Nissan has released the specs for its "supercar crossover concept," and they look every bit as good as we expected.

According to Nissan's UK test numbers, the Juke R can hit 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. That's a little slower than the Hennessey Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800, but given that the Juke has some 315 less horses, it's pretty close. The Juke R tops out at 160 mph.

Proton May Sell Lotus In Near Future

Proton May Sell Lotus In Near Future test 2

Malaysian automaker Proton may be mulling selling off Lotus, if it's listening to investors. After owning the company for 15 years and not making a profit, many business folks believe the time to sell is now.

Increased speculation on Lotus's sale comes as Proton itself may be up for sale. A number of Malaysian companies are reportedly interested in purchasing the 43 percent stake of Proton currently held by state-owned Khazanah Nasional Bhd. If Khazanah sells Proton, prevailing wisdom indicates that a sale of Lotus is a matter of when, not if.

Last Tesla Roadster Rolls Off The Line test 2

Long ago, Tesla announced that it would end production on its groundbreaking Roadster by the end of 2011. And it really meant the end of 2011. Just days before the new year, Tesla built the very last Roadster.

The Roadster is one of five Final Edition Roadster models for the North American market and one of 15 worldwide. The model didn't receive any performance modifications but got a special exterior with Atomic Red paint, dual silver racing stripes and anthracite aluminum wheels.

Alfa Romeo 4C May Be Priced Under $45K test 2

Most pricing estimates that we've seen have put the price of the upcoming Alfa Romeo 4C at between $55,000 and $70,000. However, those estimates have primarily been in euros or pounds, with US figures gained by simple pound/euro-to-dollar conversions. Last week, reports indicated that the US price of the sexy 4C could be significantly lower.

In a conversation with Inside Line, Alfa Romeo executives hinted that the price of the 4C could be $45,000 or less. The 4C will lead Alfa's return to the US market in 2013.

Bugatti vs. GT-R, When Worlds Collide [Video]

Bugatti Races GT-R test 2

Well, it’s not every day we see two industry titans battle head-to-head in a quarter mile, full throttle sprint to the finish. Just a few days ago, these seemingly unlikely competitors – considering their respective costs-to-purchase – met to do just that in the appropriately sophisticated city of Palm Beach, Florida at the Palm Beach International Raceway.

Supercar fans may not like the results, however. While the Bugatti Veyron put up an impressive post time, beating the GT-R, the gap between the two vehicles was hardly enough to justify their price disparity. For 2011, the Bugatti Veyron started with an MSRP over $2,000,000 and yet the Nissan GT-R hovers around a meager $90,000.

Did the Bugatti perform 20 times better than Nissan’s Godzilla? Ha! We might as well be asking if Godzilla flinched when Mothra went all ‘protective mother’ on the world to save her eggs.

2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 Twin Turbo test 2

If you’re looking to upgrade your Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 you might want to have a look at the all-new 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 twin turbo. It has all the performance you would need if you love fast cars.

The crew from Hennessey took their factory 6.4-liter Hemi and increased the displacement to  7.0-liter and added twin turbo to go with it. The result is 805 hp and 823 Ib.-ft. of torque which lets the HPE800 go from 0-60 mpg in 3.1 seconds and in a half a mile quarter run it makes it in 10.9 seconds at a speed of 130 mpg.

Utah Man Wins Lamborghini Murcielago, Crashes It The Same Day

David Dopp Lamborghini Winner! test 2

David Dopp won a Lamborghini Murcielago during a halftime show of a BYU football game in November. He was one of ten finalists in the Mavericks gas station “Joe Schmo to Lambo” contest at Lavelle Edwards Stadium.

Dopp wasn’t able to take the car home immediately; he had to put insurance on the car before they would deliver it to his house. After a ceremony at a Maverick gas station in Dopp’s hometown of Santaquin, he was finally handed over the keys to his new Lamborghini by a nonprofit organization.

F&M Evantra Supercar Unveiled test 2

Italian coachbuilder F&M has revealed its latest car. The Evantra aims--successfully, we might add--to take classic design elements into the 21st century. It is a rare, unique car from the capital of sexy supercars.

F&M delved into the ancient Etruscan language to name its model. 'Evantra' alludes to a unique, exclusive object and is also the name of the Goddess of Immortality in the language of the ancient civilization that occupied what is now Tuscany.

Production Alfa Romeo 4C To Lose Its Carbon Fiber Body

Production Alfa Romeo 4C To Lose Its Carbon Fiber Body test 2

We knew it was too good to be true: a $60,000 sports coupe weighing only 1,800 lbs.? Even with a modest 1.8-liter engine, the Alfa Romeo 4C concept boasted a sub-5-second 0-to-62 mph time and a plenty ample 155 mph top speed.

We're a little disappointed but not all that surprised to report that the 4C will lose its carbon fiber body and gain some weight in production. The price and full carbon fiber body just didn't compute, so we knew this day was coming. On the bright side, the car will only gain about 200 lbs., keeping things under 2,000 lbs. total.

Faster Than Advertised: Lamborghini Aventador Doesn't Stop Till 230 MPH

Faster Than Advertised: Lamborghini Aventador Doesn't Stop Till 230 MPH test 2

When Lamborghini launched the Aventador LP700-4, it listed the top speed of its new flagship at 217 mph. That's a solid top speed on its own, but some media testing reveals that the car is actually significantly faster. A German magazine recently pushed it to 230 mph.

Sport Auto tested the Arancia Argos-colored Aventador that we've become quite familiar with on the Hockenheimring track. As you can see clearly from the shot of the car's speedometer in the video below, the testers got the Aventador up well beyond 217 mph, all the way up to around 230 (370 km/h). The testers hit the mark very briefly but surely.

To be fair, they also said that a GPS-based speed check revealed top speed to be 354 km/h (just under 220 mph). That's still above the list speed, though.
