Massive Parade Of Ferraris Works At World Record

Massive Parade Of Ferraris Works At World Record test 2

A huge, never-ending line of Ferraris sounds like a dream that any car fan has had before. It's about to become a reality, though, as Ferrari North Europe prepares to create the world's longest Ferrari parade. While creating a parade of a Ferraris is a valuable proposition on its own, the group will be attempting to get itself recognized by Guiness.

Ferrari North Europe already has 600 cars registered, more than enough to beat the current record of 490. However, it won't be making the official attempt until September and is hoping to get an even 1,000 cars on board. It will be making the attempt at Ferrari Racing Days at the Silverstone Circuit in the U.K. (September 15 - 16).

Ferrari North Europe previously set the world record with a 385-car parade at the same event in 2007. The following spring, however, Ferrari North Europe was eclipsed by a 490-car parade put together by Cornes & Company Limited, a motor vehicle distributor in Japan, at the Fuji Speedway Circuit, Shizuoka, Japan. Ferrari North Europe hopes to get it back in a few weeks.

AmoritzGT DoniRosset Brazilian Supercar

AmoritzGT DoniRosset Brazilian Supercar test 2

Brazil may not be known for its supercar infrastructure, but that could all change if more cars like the AmoritzGT DoniRosset start showing up. Despite its clunky name, the supercar is an exciting, stylish ride. And what more could you expect from the land of thongs, bikini waxing and lusty supermodels.

The DoniRosset may not supplant Adriana Lima as the most beautiful thing to come out of Brazil, but luckily, it's not really competing with her. And in terms of the real competition, the DoniRosset can hold its own. While there's some clear influence from Lamborghini in the overall shape, and maybe even a little Marussia in the face, the car is original and attractive enough to not dismiss as 'another derivative supercar the world didn't need.'

McLaren MP4-12C Spyder To Get Innovative, Three-Piece Hard-Top

McLaren MP4-12C Spyder test 2

The Ferrari 458 Spider may be the "world's first mid-rear Berlinetta equipped with a retractable hard top," but one of its big competitors will have an equally intriguing hard-top when it hits the scene. McLaren has turned to a familiar company in designing an innovative folding hard-top for the MP4-12C Spyder.

According to Autocar, McLaren has teamed with German firm Webasto, the same manufacturer that worked with Ferrari on the 458 hard-top. Like Ferrari, McLaren will offer its mid-level supercar with a folding hard-top. But the design will be a bit different. The MP4-12C system will reportedly use three roof panels, which will retract and stack on top of each other. They'll slide away into a compartment behind the seats.

Mercedes SLS AMG Sets World Record For Running Down Golf Ball

Mercedes SLS AMG Sets World Record For Running Down Golf Ball test 2

If you pop open the Guiness Book of World Records and peruse around a while, you'll quickly realize: you can set a world record for just about anything. In the case of Mercedes-Benz, the record is the "longest golf shot caught in a moving car." It may sound trivial, but it's actually a pretty cool feat.

David Coulthard and Jake Shepherd are both professional athletes, but they don't usually get to play on the same team. Coulthard is an F1 driver, and Shepherd is a golfer. But the two recently teamed up for the unlikely world record.

Fisker Doing Just Fine Despite Setbacks

Fisker Doing Just Fine Despite Setbacks test 2

Since arriving in the industry with fanfare back in 2007, Fisker has read like a textbook chapter about how difficult it can be to get a business off the ground. Despite having a beautiful product to sell, virtually nothing has gone smooth for the green start-up. It's been mired in all kinds of delays, has had publicity issues, has seen a leadership shake-up, and has fallen out of favor with government backers. We're sure we missed a few setbacks.

If you've watched any of the Great Fisker Debacle, you might be under the impression that a bankruptcy announcement is imminent. However, Fisker sales numbers actually seem encouraging.

According to the numbers released by Fisker earlier this week, it's delivered a total of 1,000 Karmas to customers in the US and Europe. Given that deliveries began in December of last year, that's not bad at all.

Cobra For A New Generation? Puritalia Teases 427

Puritalia Teases 427 test 2

If you find the idea of "American muscle meeting Italian design" intriguing (personally, we're quite happy with American muscle meeting American design and Italian muscle finding its way to Italian design), you may want to keep posted to auto news over the course of the next month. Puritalia has teased a new sports car that it says combines those two iconic qualities.

There's about a month to go before the official debut, according to the teaser website that Puritalia set up. Other than that, there are no official details on the site. In fact, until today, we'd never even heard of Puritalia.

Alfa Romeo Shows 4C In Deep Red, Wins Award

Alfa Romeo 4C In Deep Red test 2

We'd imagine the Alfa Romeo 4C's curves look good even before they're covered in paint, but the concept's paint schemes have been spot on. The original icy red simply refused to be ignored, and the follow-up fluid metal silver was nearly as luxurious. For the Concorso d'Eleganza Ville d'Este this past weekend, Alfa presented a new color of 4C. And it's every bit as mesmerizing as its predecessors.

We haven't seen the proper name for the new paint, but what we do see is a deep, robust red that hugs the 4C's curves as naturally as lipstick on a supermodel's lips.

BMW Zagato Coupe Unveiled

BMW Zagato Coupe test 2

Last year around this time, we saw the Aston Martin V12 Zagato for the first time at the Concorso d‘Eleganza Villa d’Este in Lake Como, Italy. This year brings a new Ville d'Este and a new Zagato. BMW introduced the Zagato Coupe at the festivities this past weekend.

BMW and Zagato collaborated closely to build the one-off handcrafted masterpiece. The goal was to craft a "BMW seen through the eyes of Zagato," an aero-optimized, steet-legal car that could hit speeds like a track car but still meet all the legal obligations of an everyday driver.

More Ferrari Fire Problems? FF Goes Up In Poland

FF Goes Up In Poland test 2

"Fire" must be the most feared word in Maranello these days. After a very public fire problem with the 458 Italia, another new Ferrari model is having a bout of fire problems of its own. An FF burned to the ground near Krakow, Poland recently, making three publicized FF fire incidents. Even if it has nothing to do with Ferrari's manufacturing, it's another fire headline that the Prancing Horse really doesn't need.

According to a report from Polish site Kontakt 24, the Ferrari burned to the ground on the A4 outside of Krakow. Firefighters tried to douse the flames but, as you can see, were unable to save the grand tourer. The site reports this as the third FF fire, and the Polish incident joins a February FF fire in Shanghai and a test drive incident in Germany last year.

Porsche's Experience Center test 2

Porsche has detailed some plans for its upcoming California 'experience center'. The new facility will be equipped with a test track as well as an upscale gym.

Porsche North America announced this week that it's moving the operations of Porsche Motorsport North America from Santa Ana to the new Experience Center in Carson, California, just outside LA. The addition of Porsche Motorsport will add to the atmosphere of performance being developed at the new facility, which will include a road-handling course.

Nissan Juke R Tackles Norwegian Ice (Video)

Nissan Juke R Tackles Norwegian Ice test 2

The Nissan Juke R is one of those vehicles that when it acts, we watch - partly because it's just such a cool little car and partly because it's usually doing cool things. Like racing supercars. And tearing up ice in Norway.

After his stint racing around the streets of Dubai, Nissan driver Lucas Ordonez got sent to the other end of the world. Instead of hot asphalt and hot supercar engines, he's battling cold ice on the Losna Isbane Ice Track in Norway. As you might expect, the suped-up small crossover looks all kinds of comfortable shaving ice and fishtailing across the great north.
