LeFerrari test 2

The "LeFerrari" is one of the worst names ever conceived for a vehicle. And that's a damn shame because the car promises to be one of the most awesome exotics of our generation. Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso cashed in on that promise in a short video clip that takes us in and out of the LeFerrari.

Bentley unveils Le Mans Edition of the Mulsanne test 1-1

In May of 1923, W.O. Bentley traveled to France to attend the inaugural running of a new 24-hour endurance race, being held in the streets outside of a little town called Le Mans. One of W.O.'s customers had entered a 1923 Bentley 3-liter in the race, and wound up finishing 4th overall. During the race, driver Frank Clement set the first lap record, covering the 10.7 mile course in 9:39, at an average speed of 66 mph. Enthused by his car's performance, Bentley returned the following year to claim victory against a field of all-French cars. And to honor the 90th Anniversary of this legendary endurance race, W.O.'s company unveiled a very special Mulsanne Le Mans Limited Edition at this week's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Goodwood Festival of Speed Eye Candy test 1-1

The summer is quiet on the international auto show front, but that doesn't mean there aren't great car events to be had. One of the most exciting is the U.K.'s Goodwood Festival of Speed, the world's largest motoring garden party, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this summer. The roar of engines forcing aluminum and carbon fiber up the famous Hillclimb has officially quieted, but this year's Goodwood Festival left a lot of lasting memories, including a number of very interesting sports car debuts.

Haunted Highways: A Series Exploring The Ghosts of Cars Gone By (Quickly) test 1-1

To commemorate Porsche's 50th birthday year, we have decided to take a look back at one of their greatest creations. While, there are some who would argue that nothing that comes off the assembly line in Zuffenhausen, Germany is anything but great, there is still no argument that there is a caste system among even the most die-hard Porsche-o-philes. And barring the occasional ardent contrarian, more often than not, when you ask what the single greatest Porsche ever made was, you are more than likely to get the same answer the majority of the time:  The 959.

VW Builds 265 MPG Car test 1-1

Whatever you think of automaker Volkswagen, one thing is for sure: its leaders aren’t likely to shrink from a challenge. Most car companies chafed when Uncle Sam released its updated fuel economy standards in August of 2012. The new guidelines mandate that vehicles sold in the United States must achieve an average of 54.5 miles per gallon (MPG) by 2025.  VW, on the other hand, decided to not only meet the requirement but to exceed it, and do so 12 years ahead of time. The result is the XL1.

Scheduled to go into production at the end of this year, it will be the first vehicle available to the general public able to go 200+ miles on a single gallon of fuel. Consumers can almost hear oil company executives quaking in their $1,200 patent leather shoes.

The cars run a bit more than the subcompact that you may be used to on business trips and they're be available only in select locations.

Aston Martin's New Flagship Is Good For 205 MPH V12 test 1-1

Every car to wear an Aston Martin badge is somehow special. But Gaydon's latest creation is sure to vault the boutique GT builder to new heights of performance. Not since the One-77 hypercar has Aston Martin dared to offer a car that was this powerful, or this fast. Production of the One-77 was limited to just 77 units, and it carried an equally exclusive seven-figure price tag. The 2014 Aston Martin V12 Vantage S, on the other hand, is a serial production model, and it starts at a more reasonable $184,995. Mr. Bond, your new whip has arrived.

Chevy unveiled the all-new Corvette Stingray at the North American International Auto Show in January but waited until this month to give us a firmer performance spec sheet for the most well-equipped Stingray. Not only is the new Stingray the most powerful standard Corvette ever, it's also the most capable.

New Dutch Supercar Coming to Salon Prive test 1-1

It used to be that supercars only came from a handful of countries like Italy, the U.K., and the United States. No more. We've seen supercars from every continent not covered in a massive ice sheet, and some countries are slowly catching up with the leaders. The Netherlands is one such country. Spyker returned to the scene more than a decade ago, and Savage Rivale gave the country another legitimate supercar—or super convertible, in that case. The new Vencer Sarthe makes three.
