Rimac Shows Us What 2,800 lb-ft Of Electric Torque Is All About test 2

After a few teasers, Rimac has officially presented its Concept One at the Frankfurt Motor Show. We're not holding our breath for a production version of this 1,000-HP, 200-MPH electric supercar, but we must say: Rimac knows how to make a fine-looking automobile.

Toyota FT-86 Concept Goes Orange

Toyota FT-86 Concept Goes Orange test 1-1

The saga of the Toyota-Subaru sports coupe team-up (aka Toyobaru) has been so comical it could almost be classified as a farce. Toyota has basically bombarded us with concepts to the point that we're sick of seeing the FT-86. Meanwhile, Subaru has given us not one, but two, clear car-skeletons that show little more than the powertrain and a basic shell of a car. Polar opposite takes on what's essentially the same project.

Well, while Subaru is fiddling around with a glorified model car, Toyota has yet another FT-86 to show in Frankfurt.

Subaru Updates The BRZ In Frankfurt, But Not Really

Subaru Updates The BRZ In Frankfurt, But Not Really test 2

Another dramatically named Subaru BRZ concept that shows us a whole lot of nothing. Yay. While not quite as dramatically named as past iterations, the BRZ Prologue concept still carries far too heavy a name-to-information ratio. We still don't have an actual car and are left to close our eyes and visualize what this car will look like in "WR Blue Mica". But Subaru did release a few extra details this time around.

Land Rover DC100 Gets Buzz Cut In Frankfurt

Land Rover DC100 Gets Buzz Cut In Frankfurt test 2

I was pretty hard on the DC100 concept when I first saw it. Not so much because it's a terrible concept on its own, but because it's designed as a potential replacement for the Defender. In that role, the DC100 comes up way short. It's not a bad road-centric Rover, but it definitely doesn't convey the sense of adventure and off-road utility that a Defender should.

Well, the loss of a top helps, but doesn't exactly save, the DC100.

Volkswagen Introduces Buggy Up! Concept

Volkswagen Introduces Buggy Up! Concept test 2

The Land Rover DC100 Sport isn't the only airy off-roader to make an appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In a rare instance where an automaker actually waited until the show to reveal a buzzy concept, Volkswagen dropped the Buggy Up! concept during the Frankfurt show.

Fisker Goes Surfing

Fisker Goes Surfing test 2

Love it or leave it, it looks like we're going to have to get used to high-end shooting brakes. At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Ferrari created a stir—and some conflicting opinions--with the FF. And now, green sports car staple Fisker has made its own statement with the Surf Concept, a range-extending hybrid shooting brake based on the Karma.

Kia GT Concept Gets Detailed

Kia GT Concept Gets Detailed test 2

In today's eco-conscious world, the turbocharged V-6 is quickly becoming the new V-8. So, maybe it should be no surprise that the rumored V-8 underneath the hood of Kia's GT concept is actually a turbo V-6. Still, after all the talk about two V-8 muscle cars, we're a little surprised by the official details.

The GT leaked pretty thoroughly last week, and Kia has updated the world with the full details of its sporty concept.

Kia's first ever rear-wheel drive vehicle, the GT draws up to 390 horses out of a turbocharged, direct-injected 3.3-liter V-6 engine. That plant is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Despite the downgrade from V-8 to V-6, the GT offers plenty of virility, particularly for a Kia-badged sedan.

Jaguar C-X16 Hybrid Concept

Jaguar C-X16 Hybrid Concept test 2

Around this time last year, Jaguar stole the Paris Motor Show with its ultra-awesome C-X75 concept. Not only was the concept a sexy hybrid supercar with jet turbine technology, and not only was it Jaguar's first supercar since the ever-lust-ible XJ-220, but it kind of came out of left field and overshadowed more anticipated debuts, like the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento. It was show car through and through.

This year, Jaguar expands the C-X hybrid concept family with the C-X16. A look at a future entry-level sports coupe, the C-X16 isn't quite the show-stealer that the C-X75 was, but it's a car that more of the world has a chance at owning. And it's pretty sexy in its own right.

It's All You: Volvo Concept Teased

It's All You: Volvo Concept Teased test 2

This angry-looking SOB is the all-new Concept You from Volvo—or at least a teaser pic of its grille. The concept, which may be a preview of the next S80 flagship, will make its debut at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show. Volvo has released a little teaser video providing a glimpse at what it's all about.

While "You" may seem like an odd choice of names for a concept car, it alludes to a rather smart marketing strategy. Volvo's recently designated "Designed Around You" campaign is aimed at providing a luxury vehicle that is a little more comfortable and personal—or at least gives that impression.

Kia V-8 "GT" Concept Leaked

Kia V-8 GT Concept test 2

We've heard Kia will introduce two V-8-powered, RWD sports cars within the next few months, and we knew the first was coming at the Frankfurt Motor Show. What we didn't know is that a whole bunch of pictures of it were going to leak a little early. A handful of pictures of Kia's sporty concept have leaked, providing views from nearly every angle.

Audi A2 Goes Electric

Audi A2 Goes Electric test 1-1

Volkswagen is really getting its green on in Frankfurt this year. We've already seen the Audi Urban Concept and VW Nils, and here's another all-electric concept: the A2 electric. Unlike the previous concepts, this one is a preview of a definite production model.

The A2 is a five-door hatchback with four seats. It shares some of its underpinnings with the A1 hatchback, which debuted at last year's Geneva Motor Show. Unlike the A1, the A2 will get an electric powertrain, though Audi has yet to release the full details. According to Car magazine, Ingolstadt plans to offer it in all-electric and range-extending hybrid varieties. In concept form, the A2 packs an 85 kW motor and lithium-ion battery that is good for about 125 miles of range.
