Chrysler has just issued a voluntary recall notice for 6,800 2014 Ram Promaster vans. These are the same vehicles that were involved in another recall concerning the accelerator pedal, which had the potential to get stuck in the open throttle position. That recall affected 10,000 of the vehicles.

We’ve been promised over and over again that gas prices will come down. So far the promises have been empty. Other than a drop of a few cents here and there, gas has been over the $3 mark for years and there are no signs that a significant reduction is anywhere on the horizon. In an effort to battle this expense, and the damage gas engines do to the environment, many people ride more fuel-efficient motorcycles or bicycles. All costs associated with motorcycles, from insurance to repairs, are cheaper, and a bicycle benefits not only the owner’s pocketbook, but his health as well.

While we are on the subject of recalls (and when are we not?), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has designed a new label for use on recall notifications in an effort to distinguish between actual federal recalls and sales or marketing junk mail. The only thing scarier than getting a recall notice is getting a recall notice and throwing it in the trash because it looked like junk.
