Teenager See Teenager Do test 1-1

A new study conducted by Safe Kids Worldwide and funded by the General Motors Foundation was released last week which revealed some disturbing trends concerning teens and driving. They aren't really surprising though and with a little parental guidance the problems could be nearly eliminated.

A Request to Rude Drivers test 1-1

Please find a seat and pay attention. We need to talk.

Apparently we, as a population, have forgotten some basic rules of the road and need to be reminded of the proper way to turn out into traffic.

Gm Recalls 1.3 Million Cars test 1-1

Big Daddy GM is bringing quite a few of its children back to the stable this month.  Basically just about every crossover GM has manufactured over the last few years is coming back ... Okay well, maybe not all of them, but enough to be embarrassing.  It seems that the steel cable connecting the seat belts to the outboard seating positions was not created to stand the test of time and may fail long before the cars will.  Obviously if the seat belt fails, it could cause significant injuries and possibly death to driver and passengers alike.  So what cars are coming back?  Saturn Outlook models built between April 14, 2008 and March 18, 2010, GMC Acadia models built between April 9, 2008 and May 14, 2014, Chevrolet Traverse models built between April 14, 2008 and May 14, 2014 and Buick Enclave models built between ... You guessed it, April 14, 2008 and May 14, 2014.  Sound like a lot of models?  Well, it is:  Totaling 1,339,355 models in all.  GM has not announced when they will begin contacting owners, but once the recall begins, they will inspect and repair the seat belt flaws for free.  Read on for the full report ...

When A Recall Doesn't Work test 1-1

The process of a recall is pretty straightforward. Buyers of vehicles experience problems which sometimes lead to injuries or deaths, and these are reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If several problems of the same sort are reported for the same model, an investigation is launched; if the fault is found to be in the manufacturing, the auto maker repairs or replaces the equipment at no charge to the owner. That is usually the end of the story.

Spiders Attack Focus test 1-1

Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin for 2012-2014 Focus sedans and hatchbacks. There is a bug in the system causing fueling problems.

More specifically, a spider is gumming up the works. If the fresh air vent hose for the EVAP emissions system becomes clogged by debris or, in this case, spider nests. The blockage causes slow fueling or the fuel nozzle to shut off, indicating a full tank even though it is not.

A Flurry of Recalls Continued test 1-1

Toyota is recalling 370,000 2004-2011 Sienna vehicles because the spare tire can fall off. The spare tire is located under the vehicle and the cable holding it in place is prone to rusting from contact with road salt. This is the second recall for this situation. The first fix did not work and the manufacturer is still trying to work out a solution.

Owners Might Have to Leave Leaf At Dealership test 1-1

Nissan is recalling 211 pure-electric Leaf vehicles in the United States and another 65 in Canada due to a major manufacturing error. The affected vehicles may be missing a series of six spot welds in the motor compartment which could affect the car’s ability to withstand a crash. The welds are missing to the right and left of the electric motor above the sway bar ends. All the affected vehicles were built between February 28th and March 12th of this year.
