Mercedes Recalls 126k Cars for Unintended Airbag Deployment test 1-1

Airbags contain a deployment apparatus that allow them to pop out at up to 200 mph. With that much force at their disposal, an airbag is able to react to an impact almost instantly. But if you're just driving over, say, railroad tracks, a sudden airbag deployment could cause you to loose control and have a real accident. And then you wouldn't have an airbag to protect you. This is the problem facing certain Mercedes GLK and C-Class drivers. So let's have a look and see which models are being recalled...

Feds Reveal Widespread Cheating By Volkswagen In Clean Air Tests; Fines Could Exceed Billions Of Dollars test 1-1

In a stunning announcement released earlier this week, the federal government revealed that Volkswagen intentionally installed software in nearly half a million diesel-equipped vehicles to help them achieve higher emissions control efficiency numbers; it could result in what could be a landmark case for green vehicles, and perhaps a new hurdle for the recently resurgent diesel vehicle market.

Toyota Recalls 159,000 RAV4 Models

Toyota Recalls 159,000 RAV4 Models test 1-1

Well, it seems that the words, "Toyota" and "recall" are slowly becoming synonymous. Unfortunately for the Japanese car maker, they have had to recently send out a call-back for 159,700 RAV4 models built between May 13, 2003 and October 25, 2005. This time around it is because these cars have an airbag that may go off without notice and without a crash. It seems that moisture can get in and mess with the inflator, causing it to rupture, and thus deploy the the dual-stage front airbag unexpectedly.

Gm Recalls 19,000 SUVs

Gm Recalls 19,000 SUVs test 1-1

GM has recently issued a recall that isn't actually a recall... sort of. The General is bringing back Chevy Trax made between October 13, 2014 through February 3, 2015 (all 2015 designated models) and Buick Encore models made between August 26, 2014 through February 9, 2015 (also all 2015 designated models) totaling a whopping 19,831 models in all. So what's the big issue? Well, nothing. The cars themselves are okay (so far) mechanically speaking. No big engine failures or potential electrical fire hazards. Actually, the issue is that GM didn't put the rim-size information for these trucks on the placards on the cars. No big deal, right?  Well, no, and yes. Technically, this violates the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards requirement that states load capacities must be available. The issue isn't for the rims that come with the car from GM, but rather, if the owner were to change the rims on their truck, they may not know what size or load capacity to look for, and may mistakenly get a rim that cannot handle the amount of load necessary, which may result in some serious driving issues.

To avoid all this, GM is going to contact owners of these vehicles and ask them to come back for a free fix of the unlabeled placard and replace it with one that has the correct information on it. GM has not stated when they will begin their recall but owners may contact Buick at 1-800-521-7300 and Chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 for more information. Read on for the full report...

Mercedes recalls 33,000 cars in the US test 1-1

Mercedes has been manufacturing cars since the late 1800s, and they rarely get anything wrong. But when you have to combine thousands of moving parts, even the best car builders can have problems. That's why Stuttgart had to recall some 33,000 copies of the 2012-2015 Mercedes CLS and around 3,000 units of the 2015 Mercedes C-Class. Let's find out why...
