Ford Recalls 75,000 Explorers test 1-1

If you own a newer Ford Explorer, it might be best to listen up. Ford has issued a recall of 75,346 model year 2014-15 Explorers. It seems that the models in question may have a defect from the factory in which the toe links on the rear suspension could have potentially been welded incorrectly. The models that may be affected were built between January 17, 2014 through May 31, 2014.

Nissan recalls 100,000 vehicles test 1-1

If you own a 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue, you may need to take a trip back to the dealer very soon. If your vehicle was built between July 31, 2013 through January 16, 2016, it may be susceptible to a factory defect. It seems that in these vehicles the supports for the rear lift gate may corrode because they were not given sufficient anti-corrosion treatments when they were built. This recall affects a total vehicle count of 108,503 Rogues.

Nissan recalls 12,000 vVehicles test 1-1

Anyone who owns a 2016 Nissan Murano or Maxima should pay attention. Nissan has issued a recall of both of these models, totaling 12,616 in all.  Specifically, Murano vehicles produced from December 17, 2015 through February 11, 2016 and Maxima vehicles made from November 25, 2015 through February 12, 2016 that have been equipped with ABS and VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control). It seems that the O-Ring on the ABS actuator could be damaged, which could result in a drop in brake fluid pressure. If this happens, the lack of pressure could cause a decrease in braking ability for these cars, and result in much longer than normal distances to come to a stop. Obviously, farther braking distances can have very severe consequences for drivers.

Hyundai Recalls 173,000 Cars test 1-1

With great success, comes great responsibility. Hyundai has made some great strides over the past couple decades, and climbed their way up from bargain basement car company to a very respectable car manufacturer that produces cars people can be proud to own. But, as with any company that produces a thing, the more of it you produce, the higher the likelihood of something going wrong with one, or two, or 173,000 of them.

Hyundai Recalls 18,000 Genesis & Equus Cars test 1-1

Japanese car manufacturer Hyundai has come a long way in their quest towards higher quality cars. They've established a very stable and reliable reputation in recent years and should be lauded for their accomplishment. No one is perfect, however, no matter how hard we try, and Hyundai is no exception. They have recently had to issue a recall of 18,700 vehicles. There are two models in question in this recall:  Any 2012 model year Genesis that was built between August 1, 2011 through April 30, 2012, and the Equus model years 2011-2013 that were produced between July 10, 2011 through June 12, 2012.

Hyundai Recalls 11,000 Genesis Models test 1-1

Hyundai has issued a recall of their halo car, the Hyundai Genesis. There seems to have been a problem with the Hankook Ventus S1 noble2 tires. These tires were from the factory, and came as standard equipment. Apparently these tires may some an inherent flaw from the factory, as some of them have shown a propensity to start to crack along the sidewall. Obviously, cracks in the sidewall of any tire can result not only in air loss; potentially a very dangerous blow out that could cause serious injury or even death in the event of a crash.

The affected Genesis models were 2015 models built between March 3, 2014 through February 9, 2015, and, obviously, equipped with the tires in question. The total number of cars affected number 11,142 in all. Hyundai has said it will notify owners and schedule appointments at dealerships to replace the faulty tires with a different brand of tire that hopefully won't do the same thing. The recall is set to begin February 19, 2016. Questions can be directed to Hyundai's customer service at 855-671-3059. Read on for the full report …

Audi Recalls 21,000 Vehicles

Audi Recalls 21,000 Vehicles test 1-1

Audi's parent company Volkswagen Group of America has issued a recall of 21,074 models in all due to a defect in the Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS).  Models affected are Audi A6 models produced between March 28, 2011 through March 19, 2013 and Audi A7 models made between January 25, 2011 through March 19, 2013. This recall affects models that were equipped with heated and cooled seats. It seems that the PODS may not recognize that there is a person in the passenger seat, which in turn may not activate the front passenger airbags, which would cause the air bags not to deploy in the event of a crash. Obviously, this defect presents a clear danger to passengers and could cause significant injury without the benefit of an air bag.

Jeep Recalls 32,000 Cherokees test 1-1

Chrysler has issued a recall of its brand new Jeep Cherokee from the past two models years. While this is unfortunate it isn't completely unexpected as most new versions (especially one such as the Cherokee that remained the same for decades) typically have a lot of kinks and bugs to be worked out before they are perfected.

In terms of affordable transportation, the Dodge Dart is tough to beat. It's got some peppy drivetrains, lots of interior room, and style for days. It was also quite a safe little car, until it was discovered that the brakes could suddenly lose power assist, which could turn the little Dart into a Projectile...
