Party Time: Lamborghini Announces the Huracan

Party Time: Lamborghini Announces the Huracan test 1-1

Alright, everyone, put your party hats on and break out the champagne: Lamborghini has just announced the replacement for the Gallardo. It’s called the Huracan, which (as you might imagine) is Spanish for hurricane and a very Lambo-ish sort of name. The figures are as you might expect: 10 cylinders, 5.2 liters, and around 600 horsepower, which puts it within punching weight of the McLaren 12C and Ferrari 458, albeit a few years behind the curve. 0-62mph looks to be dispatched in just over three seconds, and though they’ve yet to announce the top speed, I’d be shocked if it were less than 200mph.

Lexus Has No Plans For Sub-$30K CLA Competitor test 1-1

The sub-$30K entry level segment has been a fertile planting ground for luxury car makers of late, sprouting such cars as the Mercedes-Benz CLA and Audi A3. Lexus has no plans on doing any planting, however, telling Auto News that it will leave that end of the market to the mainstream brands.

"We will not head down below $30,000," Lexus chief Jeff Bracken told Auto News during an interview. "We have Toyota and Scion to handle that price level for us."

New Ridgeline Pickup test 2

Honda revealed this week that a next-generation Ridgeline pickup truck is in the works. It plans to get the new truck to market within the next two years and has flashed a teaser rendering of what it will look like.

Since launching in 2005, the first-generation Ridgeline has had a unique look in the pickup market, with its short, funky bed. It's also provided customers with a five-seat cabin, half-ton truck capability, a closed-box unibody platform, an In-Bed Trunk, and a dual-action tailgate. The generation will reach retirement by the middle of next year, paving the way for a new design.

Ford Is Not Idle on Green Technology

Ford Is Not Idle on Green Technology test 1-1

Ford has decided to be more aggressive in the reduction of emissions in its vehicles. The auto maker is developing more and better technology to help achieve this goal. The latest offering is called Auto Stop-Start and it has the ability to shut off your engine when you are standing at a stop light, rather than letting it idle. Your engine springs back to life when you release the brake. There’s no information on how effective this is for people like me. I tend to “creep” at stop lights, especially if the car in front of me eases forward. I am overwhelmed with the desire to follow suit.

The 2015 Ford Mustang test 2

On December 5th, the world got its first official peek of the model when Ford finally released some information about what you can expect. Hyundai Plays The Luxury Card test 1-1

Hyundai hasn’t been known for its luxury vehicles. Korea could produce decent, dependable cars, but no one thought of them as luxurious. The 2015 Hyundai Genesis is about to change that.

China to Work US on Emissions Regulation test 1-1

I suppose traffic jams are a problem in any civilized country, but more so in heavily populated areas, of course. All those people with some place to be causes the environment to gasp. The United States and Europe have long been attempting to lessen the damage caused by vehicle emissions. Recently China has begun to do its part to soften our global footprint and preserve what remains of our atmosphere for future generations.

Corvette To Introduce the 2015 Z06 in Detroit test 1-1

Chevy plans to carry its 2013 barrage of sports and muscle cars at American auto shows into 2014. It all started at the 2013 North American International Auto Show with the debut of the highly anticipated C7 Corvette Stingray. The Corvette hard-top was officially joined by a convertible at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show a couple months later. Chevy turned its attention to the Camaro—specifically the Z/28—at the New York Auto Show, and it showed some tricked-out versions of both the Corvette and Camaro at the recent SEMA Show. Now it's turning its attention to 2014, where it will start off the year with yet another big Corvette debut, showing the 2015 Corvette Z06 package in Detroit.
