2nd Promaster Recall test 1-1

Chrysler has just issued a voluntary recall notice for 6,800 2014 Ram Promaster vans. These are the same vehicles that were involved in another recall concerning the accelerator pedal, which had the potential to get stuck in the open throttle position. That recall affected 10,000 of the vehicles.

Honda Pulls the Plug on Insight Hybrid test 1-1

Earlier this week, it was discovered that Honda Motor Company will likely end production of their Insight model. Plunging sales and low demand have put the nail in the coffin of the first hybrid model sold in America. This isn’t the only piece of bad news for Honda hybrids this week…

The world is getting smaller and products that were once sold only in their country of origin are now being found globally. Automobiles are no different, but if you’re gonna sell in other countries ya gotta produce a product that will compete with local goods.

No Help For Cyclists In Suffolk County, New York

No Help For Cyclists In Suffolk County, New York test 1-1

We’ve been promised over and over again that gas prices will come down. So far the promises have been empty. Other than a drop of a few cents here and there, gas has been over the $3 mark for years and there are no signs that a significant reduction is anywhere on the horizon. In an effort to battle this expense, and the damage gas engines do to the environment, many people ride more fuel-efficient motorcycles or bicycles. All costs associated with motorcycles, from insurance to repairs, are cheaper, and a bicycle benefits not only the owner’s pocketbook, but his health as well.

Cold Winter Could Mean Hot Deals in the Spring

Cold Winter Could Mean Hot Deals in the Spring test 1-1

The bitterly cold and snow-laden winter has taken its toll on sales in the auto industry. Whether people couldn’t get to dealerships or just didn’t want to go out in the mess, they weren’t buying cars. 16 million cars were predicted to be sold over the winter months, but the reality fell well short of this mark with January sales dropping 12% for manufacturers like General Motors. Inventory that normally moves off a GM lot in around 80 days is sitting for almost 115 days. Even though the demand has dropped, production has not, with cars coming off the assembly line as if someone wants to buy them.

New Ford Expedition Revealed

New Ford Expedition Revealed test 1-1

Only a few short years ago, the Ford Expedition reminded me of a dinosaur waiting for a comet to come wipe it out. However, Ford isn’t ready to give up on the full-size sport utility vehicle segment—they have big plans for their new Expedition. Ford has made some pretty big mid-generational changes to the 2015 model in order to stay competitive and keep consumers on the hook.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO...

AND THE AWARD GOES TO... test 1-1

If we gave an award for the Most Ridiculous Idea Ever, I would like to nominate Jean-Baptiste Segard's invention, the EP Tender.

What does it do? It provides a way to produce extra electricity during long trips where it may not be possible to recharge your battery. Sort of like those trucks with two gas tanks, the EP Tender is a little like an extra tank, only for electricity. Doesn’t sound too crazy yet, right? Read on.

Toy Trucks for Big Boys

Toy Trucks for Big Boys test 1-1

When my oldest son was three years old, we moved from Florida to California. We drove across the country in a small Isuzu pick-up. It was a 7-day trip since we drove only between 7am and 9pm so he could sleep in a bed every night. It was a long, cramped journey and I don’t ever want to do it again. He wasn’t much interested in coloring books and the like. What kept him entertained was a plastic beach pail full of tiny model cars. Hot Wheels, Tonka, and generic miniature metal vehicles occupied him for all those hours on the road. Every night the bucket was carried into the hotel where he spread a hand towel next to the sink, washed each car or truck in the tub while he had his bath and lined them up on the towel in neat rows to dry overnight. Boys like their model vehicles. Generally they outgrow the little cars and move on to big ones. Ford is bridging that gap and tapping into the little boy in every man.

More Issues with Tesla test 1-1

Tesla just can’t stay out of the news. If you agree that any publicity is good publicity then Tesla should be happy. Recent reports have some negative publicity and some not so negative but not positive publicity.
