Honda Launches 2015 Pilot with New Special Edition Trim test 1-1

Honda launched the 2015 Pilot earlier this month, and the eight-person sports utility vehicle gets a new "Special Edition" trim. While it's not the type of special edition car that we're used to, the fifth Pilot trim option does offer a few added features and enhancements.

When A Recall Doesn't Work test 1-1

The process of a recall is pretty straightforward. Buyers of vehicles experience problems which sometimes lead to injuries or deaths, and these are reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). If several problems of the same sort are reported for the same model, an investigation is launched; if the fault is found to be in the manufacturing, the auto maker repairs or replaces the equipment at no charge to the owner. That is usually the end of the story.

Kia Forte Price Reduction

Kia Forte Price Reduction test 1-1

Kia is shipping the new 2015 Forte to dealerships now, but the price has dropped by $10. The new base price will now be $16,690. It may seem a little odd that a car maker would take a measly 10 bucks off such a large investment item, but there is a method to Kia’s madness. According to James Hope, spokesman for Kia Motors America, the new pricing would put the Forte at the lowest in the segment. Unfortunately, they may have jumped the gun here. Kia’s main competitors, such as the Honda Civic, Ford Focus, and Toyota Corolla, have not released their 2015 prices yet. Kia’s advertising will have to wait.

Spiders Attack Focus test 1-1

Ford has issued a Technical Service Bulletin for 2012-2014 Focus sedans and hatchbacks. There is a bug in the system causing fueling problems.

More specifically, a spider is gumming up the works. If the fresh air vent hose for the EVAP emissions system becomes clogged by debris or, in this case, spider nests. The blockage causes slow fueling or the fuel nozzle to shut off, indicating a full tank even though it is not.

Special Delivery test 1-1

When I think of the United Kingdom I think of tradition, history, dignity, and some pretty good music. I do not think of innovation and futuristic designs. Apparently, I am wrong.

Warning: The Future is Closer Than it Appears test 1-1

Getting to the future is not a giant leap. Rather it is a series of baby steps with different research projects building on one another until a usable product is developed. Google has taken another step toward the creation of completely autonomous automobiles which it hopes to share with the world on a small scale this summer and as part of a partnership in the future.

A Flurry of Recalls Continued test 1-1

Toyota is recalling 370,000 2004-2011 Sienna vehicles because the spare tire can fall off. The spare tire is located under the vehicle and the cable holding it in place is prone to rusting from contact with road salt. This is the second recall for this situation. The first fix did not work and the manufacturer is still trying to work out a solution.

Lot Rage Becomes a Burning Issue test 1-1

Strange things happen at dealerships. Even though it is a place of business, it is an emotionally charged atmosphere. Whether it is elation at buying a first car or heartbreak at not being able to obtain financing on that dream vehicle, feelings run high. I’ve worked at several dealerships and so has my husband. Some buyers want to blame salespeople or management for being denied a car loan. Some want revenge. My husband was “cursed” once for not being able to sell a car to a customer. She was very upset and came back later in the day with a chicken claw. She stood in front of the dealership waving it and chanting until she was escorted off the property by the police.

Owners Might Have to Leave Leaf At Dealership test 1-1

Nissan is recalling 211 pure-electric Leaf vehicles in the United States and another 65 in Canada due to a major manufacturing error. The affected vehicles may be missing a series of six spot welds in the motor compartment which could affect the car’s ability to withstand a crash. The welds are missing to the right and left of the electric motor above the sway bar ends. All the affected vehicles were built between February 28th and March 12th of this year.
