Audi Plans A9 Flagship For 2014 test 2

Mercedes CL, Porsche Panamera, and BMW 6 Series, watch out, there's a new Audi in town. Or at least there will be in a couple of years. An Audi A9 has been rumored for a while now, and Britain's Car magazine has some new details on the top dog. While the final form(s) (four-door coupe, 2 + 2) that the A9 will take is still undecided, it looks to be all but a sure thing.

Imported From Detroit Ad Rip-off test 2

Eight Mile Style, the Ferndale Company that handles song licensing for the Detroit rapper-Eminem, alleges that the new Audi ad uses an unauthorized interpretation of his "Lose Yourself"—the song utilized in Chrysler's highly acclaimed Super Bowl spot for its uplifting portrayal of Detroit.

Sneak Peak: More MINI In 2013

MINI Cooper test 2

For all practical purposes, a larger MINI Cooper actually should be defined as ‘less-mini’. However, in this case, there are several key improvements anticipated for the 2013 MINI Cooper which necessitate the use of the term ‘more’ with respect to other features… other than size. Wow, talk about a mouthful. Anyhow, WorldCarFans.com recently posted spy photos of a prototype for the 2013 MINI Cooper. Pictures indicate that the new MINI will likely be longer and wider than current models.

One theory to account for a larger MINI revolves around the need for extra space for mechanical purposes. MINI has made no secret of their plans to utilize several different types of alternative fuel powertrains. As we saw with the Mini-E, creative power sources require creative engineering. The MINI-E replaced the entire back seat with 575 pounds of batteries. Maybe the 2013 MINI will have enough engine space to preserve four-player seating and still offer unique engine options.

Toyota Announces Recalls To Replace Faulty Nuts And Drive Shaft

This is getting BEYOND ridiculous. Even I'm getting sick of these stories, and I'm being PAID to write them. But when you can turn Toyota's tragedy into dirty-sounding comedic gold, well, here we are.

This episode in Toyota’s ongoing series of product recalls deals with U.S. and Canadian 2001-2003 Priuses and 2011 model Venzas and Siennas with all-wheel drive.    Though I’m not old enough to be officially nostalgic about anything, I still fondly remember the days when people bought Toyotas because they DIDN’T want a car with problems. But that was then and this isn’t. Onto the dirty innuendos!

Mercedes' "Secret" SLS AMG Roadster Goes "Official"

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster test 2

If you’ve been on the edge of your seat waiting until Mercedes-Benz got off the pot and finally showed “official” images of its gullwing-less neo/wannabe gullwing, your wait is over.

Seems they really don’t want to actually sell the things, however, as evidenced by what’s actually in the official pics: a white-on-white-with-just-a-few-tiny-non-white-bits car on a similarly-shaded stage.

Unless they all went color blind after working on the eye-searing E-Cell and couldn’t help it, can you think of a reason for using a color even Maytag stays away from these days?

What's All The Ruckus?

Honda Ruckus Scooter test 2

So, you know that crazy scooter you’ve seen a few times over the last decade and with each passing generation you come closer to buying one in hopes of becoming ‘scooterist’? That’s the Honda Ruckus, formerly known as the Zoomer. Back in 2003, Honda released the Zoomer into the urban jungles of Japan and America and scootering hasn’t been the same since. Partly because of a global economic crash leading to frustration over fuel prices and partly because of the Ruckus’ bare-bones, rugged practicality, and aesthetics, this little scooter has captured the gaze of motorists all over. Now, all of a sudden, scootering isn’t just limited to sunny vacations taken on the island of Capri.

Maserati To Spin Off Alfa 4 C

Maserati To Spin Off Alfa 4 C test 2

The small, sexy Alfa Romeo 4C that was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show was apparently so striking that it made siblings over at Fiat jealous. Because Maserati reportedly wants a 4C of its own. Rumors are pointing to a possible Maserati spin-off based on the delicious, cherry-red, two-seat roadster platform of the 4C. A more powerful, tridented 4C? Sounds like a win-win.

There's A New Sheriff('s Report) In Town: 2011 Cruisers Compared

2011 Dodge Charger Pursuit test 2

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department just revealed its "Law Enforcement Vehicle Test and Evaluation Program [for] Vehicle Model Year 2011," and it is riveting.

Buried amid its 174 very dry-reading pages—in PDF format, thank God—are many fascinating facts, including that this test program is as old as I am. Yessiree, since 1974 the LACSD has been evaluating whatever vehicles were thrown at it to separate real "Special Service/Police" vehicles from pieces of something else.

More Details: Jag's Crossover

More Details: Jag's Crossover test 1-1

Nearly every sports and luxury automaker either offers a crossover or is in the process of developing one, no matter how loudly purists doth protest. It's just a fact of the modern automotive market; an unfortunate fact, but a fact just the same.

You might have thought that Jaguar would be one of the few luxury automakers that lay off the crossover craze, because of its affiliation with Land Rover. You know, because crossovers and SUVs are kind of Land Rover's thing. It's only thing. But, that hasn't deterred Jaguar from developing a crossover all its own.

Aston Martin V12 Zagato Racer test 2

As it detailed last week, Aston Martin is racing its all-new V12 Zagato in the VLN race at Nurburgring this weekend. Of course, it's not racing the street version shown at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este last weekend; it's racing a modified, track version of the car. In other words, we have a whole new Zagato-Aston sports car to ogle.

More Evidence Of Lamborghini Sedan Straight From Winkelmann

Lamborghini Sedan test 2

Lamborghini should really just end the charade already. It's becoming pretty obvious that the Bull is building a sedan. Reports of the likelihood of a Lambo four-door have been getting stronger and stronger since last year. And those reports aren't originating from "insiders" or "those familiar with the matter," they're coming straight from Lambo CEO Stephan Winkelmann. Just admit it already: you're building a sedan.

The latest inkling: Winkelmann recently said at the Reuters Global Luxury and Fashion Summit that Lamborghini will launch a third car and that it will be an "every day" model.
