Volvo has been working to make itself an automotive technological leader. Over the past few months and years, it's demonstrated or discussed upcoming technologies like car-to-car communications, the SARTRE (Safe Road Trains for the Environment), and self-charging EV highways. In its latest demonstration, Volvo shows us a car that can park itself.

The Porsche 918 Spyder, one of the first of a number of upcoming green supercars, is being readied for launch later this year. During the development process, Porsche managed to string a one-minute clip of video together showcasing hot weather testing in Valley of Fire, just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. Stuttgart shows what has come of nearly one million miles of testing.

McLaren P1 claws its way around the Arctic Circle (Video) test 1-1

The McLaren P1 is one of those supercars that is just fun to look at, especially when it's in action. Unfortunately, McLaren didn't see fit to bring it to the New York Auto Show for us American folks to see in person. So we'll just have to be content watching it carve its signature into the snow and ice of northern Europe.

Witness a World Record With New Bugatti Video test 1-1

Prior to introducing its latest special edition, Bugatti put the "world record" into the World Record Car Edition by blazing into the books with a 254-mph run recorded by TÜV, the independent German organization for Technical Inspection and Certification. The record was for the fastest convertible in the world, and Bugatti got it done in the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. This week, Bugatti released the video evidence of the world record run. Reading about the world record was interesting, but watching it unfold before your eyes is much better.

First Electric Off-Roader Racing in Baja test 1-1

The National Off Road Racing Association (we'll call 'em NORRA from now on) announced last week that for the first time ever an all-electric off-road vehicle would race in its Mexican 1000 hot rod race, which is underway now. The rally, which is open to vintage and alternatively fueled vehicles, provides an interesting test bed for EVs, which suffer from range issues and performance problems in extreme weather - say 1,200 miles of hot, mouth-cottoningly dry desert in Baja. The SR1 EV1 truly has its work cut out for it.

The World's First Car Backflip ... In A MINI test 2

Imagine for a second soaring 20 feet over the ground, peering at the hard asphalt below through the upside-down windshield of your car. Now imagine that that car was one of the tiniest minicars on Earth. That doesn't sound too enticing, does it? But that's what French driver, skier and stuntman Guerlain Chicherit put himself up to. MINI is calling it the world's first unassisted backflip by car.

Inside Koenigsegg test 2

Ever wonder what goes into the most expensive of hypercars to warrant seven-figure price tags? Koenigsegg is getting ready to show us in a new video series called Inside Koenigsegg. The nine-part series premieres on the DRIVE YouTube channel tomorrow, January 8.

The purpose of the new series is to step inside Koenigsegg's Angelholm, Sweden headquarters and look at what makes a supercar super. The series sets out to explore the "outer limits of innovation in the automotive industry" and how that innovation "within the highest echelon of sports car manufacturers" affects the rest of the automotive industry. Company founder Christian Von Koenigsegg will serve as host.

Visions Of Supercars Dance In Santa's Head test 2

For centuries, Santa has instilled joy and wonder into the hearts of the world's youth by way of a reindeer-driven sleigh. A few luxury-car and supercar manufacturers have decided that Santa needs an upgrade. The world's population is growing, after all, so a little extra speed will help Santa cover his entire list with check marks.

We've seen Santa-mobiles before, but it seems like there's some growing competition this year. Within a few days, Lamborghini, Lexus and Mercedes-Benz each released visions about what Santa should be driving in the future.

The Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Venet In Action test 2

Hypercar manufacturers like Bugatti and Pagani sure do love special edition models. The latest to show its skin is the Grand Sport Venet, an artsy supercar that was designed specifically for Art Basel Miami Beach.

More so than nearly any other car line, the Veyron is defined by numbers. It packs a knee-quaking combination of 1,001 horses (or 1,200 in Super Sport tune) and 16 cylinders. It can hit 62 mph in an eye-blinkingly quick 2.5 seconds. The Super Sport version holds the world record at 267.8 mph. And on and on.

For The Love Of Driving: Four Minutes On A Fast, Curvy Road In Autumn test 2

Here at Autoshopper, we love cars and vehicles of all kinds. Of course, that means we also love driving -in theory, at least. The average commute is filled with inching traffic, impatient drivers, big, diesel-spitting trucks and just a tad of face-reddening road rage. It's not exactly the idyllic winding-road commute in a roadster that you think about when you think about the thrill of the drive. So we're always on the lookout for videos that take us to that place, if only for a few moments. This is one of those videos.

Nissan EXTREM Concept In Action (Video)

Nissan EXTREM Concept In Action test 2

We found the Nissan EXTREM concept to be a pretty intriguing piece of design. The small crossover may never be described as "sexy," but the EXTREM brought the crossover about as close to that as we've seen - definitely closer than the production Juke. In browsing through Nissan's YouTube channel, we came across a video rendering of the concept in action. Here's how Nissan imagines the EXTREM going at the "urban jungle."
