We're guessing that VH1 wasn't the first thing to "pop up" in relation to the well-done viral ad for the Fiat 500 Abarth. Given that the ad has racked up over 2 million hits on YouTube, we're guessing there were a whole lot more pop-ups before VH1 ever got its hands on the video. But VH1 has the official, non-NSFW kind of Pop Up version.

Like any good Pop Up Video, the 'Seduction' ad version is full of all kinds of trivia, including things like the model's name and marital status, things we were way too mesmerized to bog ourselves down with the first time watching the video. VH1 also gives some spicy details about the shoot, like how the slap scene took 50 takes to get right and some lucky background hand got to apply the cappuccino foam to the model's chest with a turkey baster-- being the film set 'coffee guy' was never such a score.

Many awards are handed out in the automotive industry. But in the United States none is more desired, more lusted for, than Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year. This is because trucks represent an enormous revenue stream in the American car manufacturing biz – and a veritable ‘thumbs up’ from Motor Trend creates something like divine support in revving up sales volume.

But, make no mistake. The 2012 Ford F-150 is one serious contender, a truck capable of handling enormous challenges time and time again.

For 2012, truck buyers can expect a few new F-150 features. A 36-gallon fuel tank has been added to the 4x4 F-150 EcoBoost, which allows up to 756 miles of driving range and extremely wallet-unfriendly stops at the pump. The Lariat, King Ranch, Harley-Davison, and Platinum models receive a two-speed 4x4 system designed to improve all-weather traction. Hill Start Assist, meant to prevent rolling stops, make San Francisco a less horrifying road trip prospect. And, of course, Ford is happy to point out that the 2012 F-150 once again carries a best-in-class payload capacity of 3,120 lbs.

It may be difficult to remember in this time of burgeoning winter, but back when the warm, bright days of summer were just giving way to the crisp days of autumn, Swedish hypercar-maker Koenigsegg rattled the world record scene with six different world records. None of the records were quite as prominent as top speed or 0-to-60/62 mph, but they were all equally impressive to the supercar connoissuer.

It took a few months, but Guinness has officially certified one of the biggest records set by the new Agera R. More importantly, we now have some video footage of this hypercar making its dent in the books.

I know there’s been more than a few of you who’ve questioned the logic behind Mercedes-Benz’s forays into non-car-related businesses like custom helicopters, branded credit cards, men’s perfume, Superdome naming rights and the ridiculous smart transport module.

Well, at least this latest “branding” opportunity won’t bring shame to the Benz name: to “underscore the importance of the cooperation entered into by Mercedes-AMG and Ducati one year ago” both companies have created unique—and matching—special-edition vehicles to put on display at the Bologna Motor Show, Dec. 3 -11.

The vehicles in question are a 2012 model year Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG convertible and a 2012 Ducati Streetfighter 848 superbike. Both are painted in “Streetfighter Yellow” with matching black thin-spoke alloys and—in the case of the SLK, mostly—black upholstery.

But unlike most one-of-one auto show creations, you might actually have a chance of buying not just one—but both—of these….

Just in time for the busy holiday travel season, Navigon has updated its iPhone/iPad navigation app with a feature that should prove quite popular: a la carte US maps. The update eliminates the need to download a bunch of maps that you don't need and lets you focus only on those that you'll actually put to use.

Navigon's iOS-based app used to entail downloading a full set of US maps that took 1.7 GB of memory captive. Unless you happened to be a trucker or a frequent road-tripper that meant eating up memory with a pile of maps that you'd never use. How often do you travel through all 50 states?

In regards to its “December to Remember” sales event marketing campaign, Lexus needs to just stop. Seriously. These commercials are extremely destructive to the fabric of the true holiday season, and beyond that, extremely destructive to relationships everywhere. Don't believe me? Think it over. First and foremost, when wives and girlfriends, husbands and boyfriends see men and women surprising each other with a new ES or GS sedan, there is literally nothing any of us who have gotten "normal" gifts can do to compare. Aside from giving our significant others a new house or maybe a puppy, anything else will just look paltry compared to the jackass on TV who heard the December to Remember theme on his new phone (which by the way is a pretty good gift in and of itself), and then went outside to see a red bow on top of his brand new Lexus. So the first problem is just the enormity of the gift embarrasses the rest of us.

Newspapers, blogs, community forums, magazines, and the like have exploded with buzz surrounding Subaru and Toyota’s joint-venture RWD sports coupe. At the Los Angeles Auto Show, just recently, fan excitement reached some kind of boiling point as Subaru officially revealed an actual production version BRZ in the flesh…or shall we say metal. Now, right before the Tokyo show, Toyota has fallen suit with an official reveal of the company’s take: the GT 86 sports car. Devout followers will note that Toyota has chosen to drop the concept version’s name, the FT 86, for a slightly altered moniker.

The model, as depicted above, will launch throughout Europe and Japan, but is expected to appear in North America under a Scion FR-S badge. While the car looks quite aggressive in stance, the vehicle’s starting engine output appears less than exciting – 197 horsepower and 151 lb.-ft. of torque derived from Subaru’s new horizontally opposed 2.0-liter flat-four boxer engine.

The world's fastest combustion engine-powered vehicle recently took to the hard salt in Bonneville, Utah. It brought a few cameras along to show viewers what it's like to screech along at nearly 500 mph.

Many drivers know what it feels like to drive a car to around 100 mph. A considerably smaller pool has had the opportunity to step inside a supercar or race car on a track, maybe even push 200 mph.

Europe: It's a place that has a whole lot of sexy cars and a whole lot of sexy women. So why not flaunt both? After all, models and cars go together quite well. Sexy women are often seen draped across car hoods on magazine covers, prancing around supercars and concepts at auto shows and even selling the merits of everyday sedans and coupes on TV.

Fiat is not afraid to use the power of a strong, sexy woman in its US advertising, as witnessed by its Jennifer Lopez-500 campaign. The Fiat 500 Abarth takes a step up from the 500 in sportiness and performance -- and also in sexy advertising. Like any good Discovery TV fan, the announcement of a Wheeler Dealers series focusing on the good ole’ USA was an exciting prospect back in September. However, since the season started in early October not a single Wheeler Dealers episode has featured a US vehicle, nor taken place off the British mainland. But that’s all about to change.

On Tuesday at 9pm, the Wheeler Dealers will take on a vehicle so potent, so grotesquely American, and so firmly routed to US cultural identity that spectators may just feel like the previous five episodes where nothing more than an accidental blip in an otherwise red, white, and blue season. During this LA-induced period of auto euphoria, Infiniti has dropped a bombshell set of teaser images depicting a car they believe will extend the potential for both high performance and low emission electric cars. Set to make an official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 2012, this latest Infiniti sports car concept looks to be an attempt to bridge the gap between performance enthusiasts and eco-friendly hipsters.

Although little and less is currently known about whether Infiniti plans to go into full production on this vehicle, the company’s official press video offers some insight into their game plan. From the upcoming JX to Nissan’s GT-R, we are talking about a brand which constantly strives to be on the cutting edge of style and technology. This future high performance range-extending electric sports car is an effort to raise the bar even further – a sort of one-up in the game of Mother Nature-approved performance.
