2016 Cadillac ATS-V: America's M3 test 1-1

Cadillac’s return to relevance has been hard to watch at times. Blubbermobiles like the Cadillac XTS, and that Corvette-wannabe XLR, wouldn’t have even made it past the prototype stage in Europe. But the brand soldiered on, and its new boss, Johan de Nysschen, aims to beat the Germans at their own game. To do this, he needs some seriously good cars to sell. Enter the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V. A 455hp ICBM, aimed right at the Fatherland.

In car circles, the letters ‘M’, ‘AMG’, and ‘RS’ are shorthand for speed. But if Cadillac has its way, a new letter will be added to the horsepower alphabet. Say hello, then, to the letter ‘V’.

Shelby Rekindles the Magic With the New-old 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra 427 test 1-1

Back in 1964, an aspiring car builder named Carroll Shelby decided to shoehorn a 427ci Ford big block into a Miata-sized British roadster called the AC Ace/Shelby Cobra. His psychotically overpowered little monster then annihilated the almighty Ferrari GTO at the 12-Hours of Sebring. The Shelby Cobra was a “man’s car”, and it was ridiculously fast, even by today’s standards. And to celebrate their founder’s brilliant lack of sound judgement, Shelby American is offering a very special 50th Anniversary Shelby Cobra 427. Make no mistake, this isn’t one of those knockoff replicars, it’s a real Shelby Cobra, straight from the Shelby factory. Enzo Ferrari is probably spinning in his grave…

But times have changed, and now there’s a Honda trim level/option bundle for every price point. The new-for 2015 Honda Pilot SE adds yet another choice to this Value Menu, and it’s even got a cubby for your coupon binder!

Every car company that can is making serious hay out of every anniversary they can find. Problem is, in a lot of cases, there have to be some asterisks slipped in due to, say, Chevy never producing a 1983 model Corvette, yet claiming an unbroken chain of manufacture since its introduction in 1953.

Ford Plans "Halo Model" Intro at NAIAS 2015. Let's Pray They've Learned Something in the Past Decade. test 1-1

Ten years ago, at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show, Ford unveiled what they thought would be accepted as the successor—“spiritually”, at least—to the 1960s phenomenal Ford GT/GT 40. Billed—by Ford, naturally—as “the world’s mightiest supercar”, it featured a mid-mounted, quad-turboed six-liter V12 said to put 720 horsepower and 660 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels.

Hennessey Unveils Insane 600hp Replacement for the F-150 Raptor test 1-1

When John Hennessey gets ahold of a vehicle, things tend to get a bit crazy (Remember the 270 mph Lotus Exige that was dubbed the Venom GT?). Blowers get bolted on, horsepower goes through the roof, and ordinarly fast cars are transformed into roadgoing missiles. Lucky for us, Capt. Overkill has created yet another Frankenmobile. And this one’s designed to fill in for the yet-to-be-released 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor…

Pretty Pweeese! Volkswagen Golf R 400 May Be Headed For Production test 1-1

Every car nut loves a hot-hatch. They handle like a sports car, have plenty of power, yet they still offer all the practicality found in a normal hatchback. The Volkswagen Golf GTI is the recognized standard bearer, but the 395hp Volkswagen Golf R 400 takes that recipe to a whole other level. And it may be headed for the production line.

2016 GT350 test 2

There are certain names that can be mentioned only in reverential tones. In the automotive world, the name Carroll Shelby would fit into this category. He was born in 1923, and he devoted six decades to the craft of automotive design.

Mercedes Reintroducing the Maybach' Somebody Call Rick Ross!! test 1-1

Back in 2002, Mercedes relaunched the Maybach brand to compete with Rolls Royce and Bentley at the top of the market. The ultra-lux brand quickly found favor with Asian moguls and American rappers, but high production costs and low volume led to its demise in 2012. Mercedes is hoping that the third time will be the charm, however, as they once again resurrect the Maybach name for a bespoke version of the new S-Class. So break out those gold chains and get ready for the reeeeeeeemix!

Off-road themed 2015 Volvo V60 Cross Country to Debut at LA Auto Show test 1-1

At one time, a Volvo wagon was the S-Class of Suburbia. It looked expensive, and its bunker-like construction made soccer moms feel invincible. Today, however, soccer moms prefer the invincibility of a big crossovers, and that caused Volvo to stop sending us their uber-cool wagons. But they’ve finally decided to add another wagon to their U.S. lineup, and it can even go soft-roading! So say hello to the all-new 2015 Volvo V60 Cross Country…
