Forget Maids A-Milking: Six New Camaro ZL1 Videos test 2

As we close out a very eventful year in the automotive industry, the Camaro ZL1 may no longer be the newest muscle top dog on the block (that's the 2013 Ford GT500), but it's still one of the coolest sports car debuts of 2011. And we still can't get enough of it. As a little Christmas present to us and you, the Camaro5 forums have industriously uncovered six new videos of the icon-in-the-making. And the blogosphere has spread the holiday cheer by singing out their praises.

I can't think of a better way to waste those last dwindling hours leading up to the holidays than playing back to back to back to...you get the idea..ZL1 videos. The videos range from track footage to exterior walkarounds to interior close-ups, with some featuring the hard-top and some featuring the newer convertible. It's everything a good car lover would put on his Christmas list.

Bugatti's Latest Special Edition: Super Sport Edition Merveilleux test 2

Boy do I envy everything about this guy. Not only does the media refer to him by his first name, but he gets a special one-off edition of the world's fastest car for his birthday. That's some James Bond-level stuff right there.

The man is known simply as "Simon" and the car is called the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Edition Merveilleux.

World's Ugliest Supercar Now On Sale

World's Ugliest Supercar Now On Sale test 2

There are ostentatious, excessive and gaudy cars and then there are cars that are just plain 'WTF were they thinking'. The Anliker "999 Red Gold Dream" Mercedes SLR McLaren is 100 percent in the latter category. It's one thing to cover a hot supercar like the SLR in weird aerodynamic parts and expensive accents, but it's another thing to pretty much destroy the car's styling with a lip gloss-red paint and gaudy gold. This is one of the most heinous pieces of tunage I've ever seen. And if you're wealthy, you now have a chance at owning it.

The car was modified by Swiss designer Ueli Anliker several years ago. The car's modifications are primarily cosmetic with tasteless things like 24-karat gold-plated wheels, ruby-encrusted lug nuts, gold-trimmed interior and ruby-covered drive components. It even has 11 lbs. of gold dust mixed in with its paint. All in all, the 999 Red Gold Dream cost about $5.4 million in parts alone.

Anliker still plans some engine modifications that will push the SLR's twin-turbo V-8 up around the '999' mark. A garish number for an unbelievably garish car.

Nissan Juke Nismo Could Hit Market in 2013

Nissan Juke Nismo Could Hit Market in 2013 test 1-1

It's pretty clear that Nissan really wants to build a hot hatch version of the Juke crossover. First, it stimulated wild dreams with the radical but for-show-only Juke R concept in Frankfurt. Then it showed the more realistic Juke Nismo Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show and announced that Nismo will have a greater role in building performance road models.

So, we'd have to assume that unless the reaction to the Juke Nismo was horrible or a business case proves elusive, Nissan will be building some type of high-performance, Nismo-engineered Juke. According to reports, the model hasn't been given the go-ahead yet, but should get a green or red light within a few months.

Nissan Juke R Wasn't Approved By Nissan Execs

Nissan Juke R Wasn't Approved By Nissan Execs test 2

When you look over the pictures and spec sheet of the Nissan Juke R concept, you're left with the feeling that the extreme crossover must have been built by a tuning shop. Because what major automotive brand commissions something like a 530-hp small crossover? What automaker in their right, sane mind mashes a GT-R supercar and an entry level crossover?

Not Nissan, apparently. According to new reports, the British team that built the Juke R never actually got permission from Nissan's corporate headquarters. And, honestly, the Juke R makes a lot more sense now.

Toy Car Hits 60 MPH Faster Than Bugatti Veyron

Toy Car Hits 60 MPH Faster Than Bugatti Veyron test 2

Looking for a unique gift for that special car lover in your life? You probably can't afford to buy him a car that hits 60 mph in under three seconds, but maybe you can get him a toy car that boasts those credentials. While the Traxxas XO-1 is still an expensive gift, it's gotta be the cheapest way to get to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds.

We'd have to call the X0-1 the first 'RC supercar' that we've ever seen. It beats nearly every actual car on the planet to 60 mph, getting there in just 2.3 seconds. For comparison, the Bugatti Veyron hits 60 mph in about 2.5 seconds. So you get a radio controlled car that's quicker than the quickest production car on the planet. Not a bad start.

New Italian Supercar: F&M Mugello

New Italian Supercar: F&M Mugello test 2

Croatian and Australian supercars may make bolder headlines, but what really gets our blood pumping is Italian supercars--even if they happen to come from lesser known coachbuilders as opposed to the established icon-makers. The all-new F&M Mugello reminds us just why the term 'Italian supercar' makes every hair on our arms and necks stand on end.

Italians just have a knack for style. We're not sure why no one else can touch them, but we've come to accept it. Ferraris and Lamborghinis may no longer be the elite of the elite in performance, but they definitely look better than the 1,000-hp supercars that have passed them by.

Midas Touch: $5 Million Lamborghini Aventador Has Gold And Diamonds But No Engine

Midas Touch: $5 Million Lamborghini Aventador Has Gold And Diamonds But No test 2

The first year of the Lamborghini Aventador may have sold out, but buyers will soon have their chance to secure an Aventador at auction. This Aventador comes with a couple of major caveats, though. It trades the 690-hp V-12 engine in for a whole heap of precious metals and stones and is expected to cost anywhere from double to 12 times the Aventador's base price.

You see, this Aventador isn't really an Aventador at all, but an ultra-premium, finely detailed 1/8-scale model. Built by German artist Robert Gülpen, the Aventador LP700-4 is crafted entirely from expensive materials, including gold, carbon fiber and diamonds. Specific components on the mini-Aventador include gold suspension, gold-plated carbon fiber body panels, platinum wheels and seats accented with 700 diamonds...each.

Nissan To Commission More High-Performance Nismo Models

Nissan To Commission More High-Performance Nismo Models test 1-1

If the recent Juke R tells us one thing, it's that Nissan is itching for some performance models. You have to be just a little bored to come up with something as off-the-wall as a 530-hp small crossover.

Luckily for Nissan and its tuning wing Nismo, it won't be bored for long. The Juke Nismo Concept--a more realistic take on a high performance Juke--is the beginning of an increased role for Nismo. Nissan announced at the Tokyo Motor Show that it plans to start commissioning more Nismo models.

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 test 2

If you really want to go fast in an SUV, then the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 is about the only way to go - in fact, the SRT8 does approach Porsche Cayenne levels of performance.  But you really will want more than pure acceleration, because there are many, many cars out there that can out-accelerate the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. You want that special something that the Jeep provide - in addition to all that power.

In order for the Jeep to be able to handle all that power, certain things had to be done. You’ll surely notice that the Jeep sits lower than its brothers and the front bodywork is dangerously low, which leads one to question: Is this really an SUV vehicle, or is it a hopped up “other type of vehicle” (I don’t know quite what to call it). If it can’t go off-roading at the flick of the steering wheel, then it no-longer is an off-road vehicle, is it? We just can’t be sure.

Hennessey Venom GT Gets Convertible

Hennessey Venom GT Gets Convertible test 2

The Hennessey Venom GT has stood as the most interesting supercar-by-tuner of the past several years. This supercar is what happens when car guys get a wee bit shop drunk and start coming up with outlandish ideas. In this case, the outlandish idea is fitting a tiny Lotus Exige with a massive, twin-turbo LS9 V-8 engine. That's 1,200 hp packed into 2,640 lbs.

The Venom GT is admittedly pretty exciting, but what good is an ultra-powerful, quirky two-seater if you can't take the top off? That's why there's now a Venom GT Spyder.
