Charger SRT8 Super Bee - Serious!

On: Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 1:42PM | By: Lou Ruggieri

Charger SRT8 Super Bee test 2

Dodge, this is beneath you. We really thought all of this nonsense was over and done with. And with the economy in the state it’s in, you really should realize that people are starting to understand what true value really is all about. However, you have chosen to bring about the ... ahem ... mighty ... 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee. Oh, great! A legendary name plate that one would equate with a better model than your garden-variety SRT8 Charger, right? Well, muscle car fans, don't get your hopes up.

The Dodge Super Bee seems like it is a bit of a bust, at least to one humble writer. Granted, it is difficult to call a RWD car that puts down 470-hp and 470-lb.-ft. of torque through an overhead valve 6.4-liter thumping V8 a bust, but that's just the thing -- it's the same motor as the 'regular' SRT8. No difference. The transmission is the same 5-speed automatic as the non-Super Bee. Wheelbase? Same. How about the base price? Yup, right about the same 42 grand as the normal SRT8.

Fox Marketing Tuning A 400-HP Nissan Juke

Fox Marketing Tuning A 400-HP Nissan Juke test 2

Typically a car as weird as a 485-hp small crossover is something that you'd only be able to find from a tuning house. In the case of the Nissan Juke R, though, it was actually Nissan that thought the concept up. Not surprisingly, the Juke R is inspiring tuners to create their own suped-up versions of the Juke.

Even tuners known for extreme automobiles weren't quite twisted enough to think about dropping Nissan's GT-R powertrain into a Juke. But after seeing Nissan do it step by step, they're inspired enough to try something similar.

Family Fued: Tuned Lamborghini Gallardo Takes on Aventador test 2

Few things in life sting the same way that getting beat up on by your little brother does. Problem for big brothers everywhere is that little brothers tend to have that extra competitive chip on their shoulder. And sometimes little brothers spend hours hitting the bench while big brothers spend those same hours eating Cheetos and playing Call of Duty.

Consider the below video the automotive version of that scenario. A 1,200-hp Lamborghini Gallardo tuned by Underground Racing takes on a stock Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Is it a devastating day for the Aventador? You'll have to read and watch to find out.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Super Sport May Debut In Geneva test 2

The Geneva Motor Show is no stranger to sexy, exotic European-built supercars. In fact, we'd have to call the March show the ground zero for such cars. This year's show won't be an exception to that trend, with cars like a new Gumpert supercar and rumored Lamborghini Aventador roadster expected to be among the new debuts. According to recent reports, a high-performance version of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport roadster will also be a part of the Geneva festivities.

With the Veyron 16.4 having run through its prouction life cycle, Bugatti is now left to focus on its sole remaining model: the Veyron Grand Sport. Back in the summer, we first heard a loose rumor from the Netherlands that Bugatti was planning to add a more powerful Grand Sport model to its line. An article in Autovisie cited Bugatti/Bentley chief Wolfgang Durheimer as quoting an output figure between the 1,001 hp of the standard Veyron Grand Sport and the 1,200 hp of the Veyron Super Sport.

Hennessey Venom GT Is Coming For Veyron's Record test 2

There's no shortage of supercar marques with the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport in their sights. Bugatti's record had barely been made last summer before other potential contenders like SSC and Koenigsegg started waving their gauntlets around and hinting at an upcoming challenge. In a conversation with Jay Leno, John Hennessey, the mad man behind the 1,200-hp Lotus Exige known as the Venom GT, became the latest to publicly set a goal of beating the Veyron SS's 267.8 mph world record.

We can hear you now Chevy fans. Angry and frustrated. Confused and alone. Not more than two months after the announcement of the resurrection of one of the greatest names in Camaro history, the ZL1 -- does the rug get pulled out from under your feet, and your balloon burst in your hand thanks to one little 650-horsepower Mustang. Not only does this new Ford embarrass your chosen pony car, it actually goes a step further and slaps your beloved Corvette ZR1 right in the face. How could they? How could they! Well, fear not GM faithful, we are here to tell you not to worry, and that all of this has happen once (or twice) before.

Nissan Confirms Juke R Performance Specs

Nissan Confirms Juke R Performance Specs test 2

A Juke R body with the soul of a GT-R sports coupe--that's the recipe for the much publicized Juke R crossover that executives at Nissan weren't too fond of until it became the darling of the auto media. Despite its bulky body, we knew that a 485-bhp powertrain wouldn't be for naught. Nissan has released the specs for its "supercar crossover concept," and they look every bit as good as we expected.

According to Nissan's UK test numbers, the Juke R can hit 62 mph in 3.7 seconds. That's a little slower than the Hennessey Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800, but given that the Juke has some 315 less horses, it's pretty close. The Juke R tops out at 160 mph.

Chrysler 200 S test 2

With so much media coverage on the upcoming Dodge Dart, Chrysler has decided to diversify their new offerings in the form of true blue American muscle. And with these two latest additions to the Chrysler lineup consumers can’t possibly confuse the company’s brand image as a watered-down Italian carmaker. Instead, Chrysler is going back to its roots.

Queue Aaron Copland’s Rodeo, a throaty engine, screeching, and drifting tire smoke. Chrysler has announced plans to introduce a 200 Super S and Dodge Charger Redline by Mopar.

2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 Twin Turbo test 2

If you’re looking to upgrade your Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 you might want to have a look at the all-new 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee HPE800 twin turbo. It has all the performance you would need if you love fast cars.

The crew from Hennessey took their factory 6.4-liter Hemi and increased the displacement to  7.0-liter and added twin turbo to go with it. The result is 805 hp and 823 Ib.-ft. of torque which lets the HPE800 go from 0-60 mpg in 3.1 seconds and in a half a mile quarter run it makes it in 10.9 seconds at a speed of 130 mpg.

F&M Evantra Supercar Unveiled test 2

Italian coachbuilder F&M has revealed its latest car. The Evantra aims--successfully, we might add--to take classic design elements into the 21st century. It is a rare, unique car from the capital of sexy supercars.

F&M delved into the ancient Etruscan language to name its model. 'Evantra' alludes to a unique, exclusive object and is also the name of the Goddess of Immortality in the language of the ancient civilization that occupied what is now Tuscany.

Forget Maids A-Milking: Six New Camaro ZL1 Videos test 2

As we close out a very eventful year in the automotive industry, the Camaro ZL1 may no longer be the newest muscle top dog on the block (that's the 2013 Ford GT500), but it's still one of the coolest sports car debuts of 2011. And we still can't get enough of it. As a little Christmas present to us and you, the Camaro5 forums have industriously uncovered six new videos of the icon-in-the-making. And the blogosphere has spread the holiday cheer by singing out their praises.

I can't think of a better way to waste those last dwindling hours leading up to the holidays than playing back to back to back to...you get the idea..ZL1 videos. The videos range from track footage to exterior walkarounds to interior close-ups, with some featuring the hard-top and some featuring the newer convertible. It's everything a good car lover would put on his Christmas list.
