GPR Motorsport Engineered Next Generation Touring Car

The Toyota Avensis NGTC will meet the track for the first time in a race in the final round of this year’s BTCC season.

A sneak peek at the Toyota Avensis Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) has recently been released, unveiling for the first time photos of the racing concept vehicle that will make its entrance in the this year’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

GPR Motorsport revealed just two sketches and no information regarding their modified version of Toyota Avensis, a modified version that meets the latest regulations of the BTCC and a model that is ready to compete in the last stage of the British championship.

This gesture of giving away a model for the people at the GPR Motorsport made by Toyota indicates that there isn’t any desire for the Japanese manufacturer to compete again in the British Touring Car Championship

The Avensis is currently being engineered by GPR Motorsport in Buckingham. The car will be a test-and-development model for new 2011 BTCC regulations.

Toyota has agreed to supply GPR Motorsport with a donor car, as well as a bodyshell, with the intent of having it built to the new 2011 speculations. According to World Car Fans, BTCC double champion, will pilot the Avensis NGTC “When the Avensis NGTC makes its first public race appearance at Brands Hatch on 9 – 10 October, James Thompson, a BTCC double champion, will be at the helm.”

Toyota says it is happy to give support to Touring Car Association (ToCA), but the company does not plan to re-enter the championship with a works team.

The new regulations of the BTCC will be adopted by the participating teams from the 2011 season. The Toyota Avensis NGTC will be driven by James Thompson in its first race at Brands Hatch on 9 – 10 October.

The pictures that were recently revealed are actually drawings that have shown more design details than ever before of the Avensis which is being engineered by GPR Motorsport in Buckingham.

James Thompson, a BTCC double champion, will pilot the Avensis NGTC when it makes its first public race appearance at Brands Hatch on 9 – 10 October.

Avensis is manufactured at Burnaston in Derbyshire, close to the Donington Park race circuit.
