Lamborghini Teases New Car For Paris

Lamborghini has issued a teaser photo of a car that it plans to show at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The image shows a crimson taillight flanked by glossy carbon fiber. While Lamborghini didn't specify the car behind the image, speculation indicates that it is Lambo's next halo: the Murcielago-replacing Jota. Lamborghini has five more teaser images planned before the Paris Motor Show gets underway on September 30.

So far, Lamborghini has kept a highly mysterious aura around its Paris-bound car offering only this little nugget along with the photo: "Discover the way to the future of supersports cars." As broad as that is, it could certainly be construed to indicate the launch of the Jota.

Another fact that supports the idea that this is the Jota is that Lamborghini actually teased the Jota back in June with a very disappointing photo of the logo on a shadowy black front-end. If you think this week's teaser doesn't show a whole lot, you'd be highly disappointed by that one. That photo came with the line "Coming Soon..." and reports at the time detailed the Jota's Paris debut.

The Jota is expected to carry 700 horsepower worth of direct-injected 7.0-liter V12 might. Rumored performance numbers include a three-second 0 to 62 mph and a 230 mph top speed.

Earlier this summer, Lamborghini opened a carbon fiber research center in Italy called the Advanced Composites Research Center. The Jota is expected to take plenty advantage of Lamborghini's refining knowledge of carbon fiber and composites, as has long been Lamborghini's trend (the Murcielago contained about 205 lbs. of carbon fiber in its shell). The Jota will be based around a lightweight carbon fiber chassis.

Outside, the Jota is expected to include some styling cues from the fighter-inspired Reventon, but feature an original look with clear Lamborghini blood. Lamborghini stated simply that it will illustrate the company's "sound and light" philosophy. A slightly disheartening piece of speculation is that the Jota will not get traditional Lambo doors as a weight-savings measure.

As usual, the Paris Motor Show will be one of the most buzzed about auto shows of 2010. Besides the new Lamborghini, other show debuts include a new supercar and other concepts from Lotus, the Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet and Mazda's sexy Shinari concept, as well as countless other world debuts and concepts. Stay tuned for media coverage that begins on September 30.
