2017 Chevy Bolt: Over 230 Miles On a Charge

When I was a little kid growing up in the 1960s, there were a lot of futuristic innovations floated around on sci-fi shows and in scientific publications. Many of these gizmos, gadgets, devices, and vehicles were actually rather slow to hit the marketplace, but we are in the sweet spot of technological advancement at the present time. This certainly extends into the automotive realm in many different ways, and some of the things that are happening have been quite predictable.

Electric cars have always been a possibility, and they have been available for quite a while at this point. However, the range and the costs of these vehicles have been stumbling blocks. Little by little, range has expanded, and the price tags have gotten smaller. The cost effectiveness has been aided by tax breaks that are offered by many state governments and the federal government. Of course, when you are assessing the costs, you have to consider the fact that you never have to buy gasoline if you are driving an electric vehicle. Speaking of gas, the interest in EVs is always going to be at its peak when gas prices are stifling. Over the last several years, the cost of a tank of gas has been quite affordable relatively speaking, and this has impacted demand to some extent. At the same time, savings are savings, and many people are concerned about the impact that fossil fuels have on the environment.

There has recently been some good news released about the state of electric car efficiency. The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt is going to be setting a new standard when it comes to commuting range. In the near future, the Paris Auto Show is going to take place, and General Motors will be showcasing a Bolt clone that has been manufactured by Opel. The new model will be capable of traveling at least 238 miles on a single charge. This is a big part of the appeal of the 2017 Chevy Bolt, but there is more. The $30,000 price point has always been the big tipping point for electric vehicle sales. Companies have recognized the fact that they could have more success if they could offer an electric vehicle for less than $30,000. When you factor in tax credits, the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt will in fact carry a sticker price under 30 grand. This EV is something that you may want to consider if you're looking for a cost efficient commuter vehicle that would be a lot of fun to own.
