Nissan Announces 2017 Armada Pricing
Nissan has announced the pricing for its newly launched 2017 Armada SUV. The big ute will debut with a simplified trim ladder, as well as bring new equipment and technology when it thunders its way into Nissan showrooms.
Buyers will discover that the Armada lineup has been broken down into three simple trim levels for 2017. The base model, dubbed the SV, starts at $44,400 before the $995 destination charge is added. The SV starts with rear-wheel drive, but buyers still get plenty of goodies including an eight-inch color touchscreen, navigation, heated front seats, as well as a 13-speaker Bose audio system. Buyers wanting four-wheel-drive will see the MSRP jump to $47,300 which is still quite good for a SUV in its segment.
The next level up is the $49,150 SL model which can also be equipped with four-wheel drive for a revised price tag of $52,050. The SL's offers increased levels of standard equipment, as well as the revised interior and exterior trim that are unique to this particular model. Finally, the top of the line Armada Platinum starts at $57,090 for two-wheel drive, with four-wheel drive variants starting at $59,990.
In addition to the levels of standard equipment that each model has, there are four different option packages that do vary from model to model. The first is called the Driver Package; it's available only on SV-grade Armadas. When equipped, the SV gains features such as fog lights, an auto-dimming rear view mirror, power lift gate, power folding 60/40 rear seats, a Homelink transceiver, and a built-in towing package. The Moonroof package is the second choice; as expected from the name, it adds a beefy moonroof to the Armada. The Captains Chairs Seat Package continues the simplified naming scheme; it replaces the second row bench seat with individual captains chairs and even adds a second row center console with a padded armrest. Finally the SL's Technology Package bundles intelligent cruise control, distance control assist, forward emergency braking, predictive forward collision warning, and a blind spot monitoring system, as well as Nissan's backup collision intervention system.
The Armada's sole engine choice is an updated version of Nissan's familiar 5.6-liter V8 that generates 390 horsepower; this represents not only a modest bump in horsepower when compared to the older Armada, it also boosts fuel economy, which should please buyers who want to squeeze a few extra miles out of each gallon. It is mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission, which allows the Armada to tow up to 8,500 lbs when it is sufficiently equipped. Look for any further updates to initially make their appearance on its Infiniti-badged sibling the QX80 before they eventually trickle down to Nissan customers.
