Jaguar F-Type SVR Leaked, Brings 575 Horsepower To F-Type Ranks

The current generation F-Type "R" model currently holds the mantle as the most powerful F-Type avalible to buyers thanks to its 550 horsepower supercharged V8 engine as well as its slick exterior styling, however thanks to a poorly timed leak by a German importer (which was spotted by the folks at Autovisie,) that model will be surpassed by a new breed of feline that brings more power and technology to the F-Type ranks while also putting established entries from Porsche and BMW in its crosshairs.

Known formally as the F-Type SVR, this potent variant of the F-Type is billed as Jaguar's "Ultimate Sports Car" and stands out from the rest of the F-Type range thanks to an all new front bumper which features larger air intakes as well as an all new front splitter to help improve air flow and aerodynamics. The rear fascia also recieves a rear diffuser, and a model exclusive rear wing that is bigger than before, and still retains the ability to extend or retract depending on vehicle speed. For buyers that would rather not give Johnny Law a visual indicator of whether they are breaking the speed limit or not, the SVR will most likely retain the button operated control that allows drivers to turn the motors off, which allows the spoiler to stay up at any speed. Rounding out the exterior changes are a slick set of 20-inch forged aluminium alloy wheels, a titanium exhaust system, and stickier Pirelli P-Zero tires.

The interior largely carries over the theme that is seen in other F-Types, and retains its driver focused ergonomics as well. However, SVR engineers have added several model exclusive touches including a sport steering wheel, brushed aluminium trim, as well as special quilted leather performance seats that feature an "Argyle" inspired pattern for the stitching. These are nice touches, and should do a good job of making the SVR stand out against rivals while also showcasing the full potential of its luxury features as well. Lastly the interior also features healthy splashes of SVR badges including the seats, dashboard, door sills, as well as the tread plates to further stand out from the rest.

Performance for the F-Type SVR comes from the familiar 5.0 liter supercharged V8 engine, but it has been tweaked by SVR to produce an impressive 575 horsepower and an equally stout 516 lb-ft of torque. All of this grunt is channeled to all four wheels through a tweaked eight speed automatic transmission which allows the SVR to claw its way to 60 mph in a swift 3.7 seconds, before finally topping out at 200 mph (convertibles ring in at a slightly lower 193 mph.) Other performance goodeis include carbon ceramic brakes, an electronic rear differential, and a model exclusive sport tuned suspension with adjustable dampers to help keep the car planted during spirited driving.

Look for the F-Type SVR to go on sale in select European markets in May, with the rest of the continent getting it later this year. As for U.S. buyers, look for the car to possibly follow the trend set in place by other recent models, and possibly arrive on our shores either in fall or sometime in 2017 with final pricing and launch information being released closer to its official unveilingat a soon to be determined auto show.
