Jaguar Previews F-Pace Ahead of Frankfurt

Following numerous teaser images and press releases, Jaguar has released a formal preview image of its upcoming F-Pace crossover ahead of its September 14th debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

While the lone preview image does stick to the company's recent habit of releasing only single images of its upcoming products, it does reveal that the company's first ever CUV offering will feature a bold side profile with the shape similar to the Range Rover Sport, but with healthy doses of F-Type styling cues to spice up the overall package. The F-Pace will also be the first CUV to be built on Jaguar's new Lightweight Aluminum Architecture borrowing key elements from the recently launched XE sedan. The F-Pace's platform is said to be exceptionally rigid, but still features a balanced suspension tune that promises to provide buyers with a balanced blend of comfort and sporty nimbleness. This would make the F-Pace one of the more exciting CUV entries in the marketplace, and would allow it to effectively compete with rivals such as the BMW X5 and the Porsche Cayenne.

The new model also benefits from several mechanical goodies borrowed from the F-Type including that model's electric power steering as well as its torque vectoring all-wheel drive. Look for the latter feature to help the F-Pace conquer wet and snowy roads, though its emphasis on on-road performance will most likely mean that it will not come bundled with some of the more off-road oriented features that define Land Rover offerings, including hill descent control and the Terrain Management system. The interior will also be a healthy blend of F-Type cues with technologies from the XE and XJ thrown into the mix to allow it to be on par with its German rivals.

Jaguar is keeping full details, including performance specs and powertrain offerings, under wraps, but look for the F-Pace to most likely arrive with carryover engines when it eventually launches. The 3.0-liter 340-horsepower supercharged V6 will see duty in lower trims while the flagship F-Pace benefits from the familiar 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine (mirroring its corporate siblings at Land Rover). The transmission will most likely be carried over as well with the familiar ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission being the only transmission available across the range.

The F-Pace is expected to make its debut on September 14th with the first batch of production units arriving at Jaguar showrooms shortly after, but meanwhile, Jaguar has released a brief video about the F-Pace which can be seen below
