Nissan Unveils 2016 Maxima SR Midnight

With the 2016 Nissan Maxima currently making its way into Nissan showrooms, the company has announced an all new Maxima SR Midnight edition which not only makes the Maxima much more sinister in appearance, but it also highlights Nissan;s sponsorship of the BET experience in Los Angeles, California.

Unlike many automakers, Nissan does not use formal vehicle packages for the Maxima (recently eschewing them for the sake of simplicity.) As a result, the Midnight edition is largely made up of factory and dealer-installed accessories that allow the car to have a distinctive look when compared to the standard issue Maxima. The exterior styling does not change much from the standard model, but Nissan designers have included a model exclusive "Super Black" paint job, as well as a rear spoiler, custom rocker panel moldings, a rear diffuser, splash guards, and slick 19-inch black aluminum alloy wheels which round out the package quite nicely.

The interior of the Maxima Midnight has also been slightly tweaked, and comes equipped with a charcoal-colored interior scheme with the supportive Ascot leather seats featuring Alcantara inserts that promote grippiness and support when the car is pushed hard in corners and other spirited driving conditions. In addition to the seats, the steering wheel receives Alcantara inserts and helps it embody a race-ready appearance. Other than these revisions, the Midnight shares the rest of its interior furnishings with the range-topping SR trim which means a flat-bottomed steering wheel with metal shift paddles as well as its tuned sport suspension, the Yamaha-sourced performance damper, and the SR's suite of performance technology. "Liquid Chrome" interior finishes help add some contrast to the cabin and help give it a touch of personality as well.

Along with this announcement, Nissan also released an all new commercial for the Maxima titled "Day and Night" which promotes the new special edition.
