Rumors Confirmed: Jeep Wagoneer Will Make a Comeback

If you grew up during the 1960s and 1970s like me, you experienced a whole different paradigm when it comes to cars. When I was a youngster, foreign cars were few and far between, and American cars were actually made in America. Of course, that was a long time ago, and times have changed in many different ways.

The sport utility vehicle has been a very popular seller for decades at this point, but there was a time when the name really didn't exist. If you wanted a rugged, four-wheel-drive vehicle, you would probably look toward a Jeep of some kind, and the name itself kind of described the class of vehicle.

These cars were first manufactured by Willys-Overland Motors, a company that was founded all the way back in 1908. They originally made Jeeps for military use, and they started producing them in 1941. By the end of the war, they had provided the military with almost 360,000 Jeeps.

In 1963, the company became the Kaiser Jeep Company, and they introduced the Jeep Wagoneer SJ. It was a spacious four-wheel drive vehicle, but an emphasis was placed on luxury. In fact, people say that it was the first luxury car in its class.

The Wagoneer SJ caught on well with the public, and it remained in production for some 30 years. The final year of production was 1991. For the 1993 model year, the Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was also called the Grand Wagoneer, made its debut, and it remained in production through 1998.

Personally, I would love to have an early Jeep Wagoneer. These cars have a truly classic appearance, they are utilitarian, and it would be very cool to have one on hand for certain occasions.

We haven't seen a new Jeep Wagoneer hit the marketplace in quite some time, but it looks like things are going to change in the near future. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is now the owner of Jeep, and there have been rumors circulating for a few years now about a reintroduction of the Wagoneer.

The company has recently confirmed the speculation. A new Jeep Grand Wagoneer will be available to the buying public in 2018.

There is a big event for car dealers taking place in August, and these dealers may get their first glimpse of the car at that time, though the general public will have to wait a while.

I love it when automotive blasts from the past reemerge, and I look forward to seeing the look of the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

Good thing that this car will come back! I'd love to have it for sale in my dealership (http://www.autonationacurasouthbay.com/) but I guess I'll have to wait for a few years before it becomes affordable for me, haha!
