Dodge Unveils SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo Concept

With multiple brands creating futuritstic Gran Turismo Vision concept cars in recent years, Dodge is the latest brand to formally enter this growing trend with the teasing of a special concept vehicle that aims to push the boundaries of eco-friendly performance and exterior design.

Formally known as the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo, the digitized concept car is Dodge's vision of a "single-seat hybrid powertrain concept vehicle" that pushes the boundaries of both performance and enviromental efficency. Like many other Gran Turismo Vision Concepts, the Tomahawk will be released exclusively into the GT6 video game.

While we would love to see a production version of the car to take on the recently unveiled Ford GT, the cost of production as well as the issue of practicality for some of its technology would certainly hobble efforts to bring it into the real world. Also, with Fiat currently struggling in the economically volatile European market, FCA cannot afford to waste precious capital on a high budget supercar that would generate only minimal sales .

However, the digital world will be pleased with some of the features that the Tomahawk has to offer. The exterior styling, for example, shares much of its basic inspiration with the current Dodge Viper, but takes it in a more futuristic direction, thanks to strategically placed curves and angles. We are also fans of its five exhaust tips which is an obvious move borrowed from the Chevrolet Corvette. In addition to its digitally slick clothes, the Tomahawk also features a healthy number of aerodynamic aides and appears to even steal a trick from the Bugatti Veyron by incorporating air brakes. No shots of the interior were released, but look for it to share some distant cues with the Lamborghini Egoista concept when it comes to its single-seat arrangement, as well as other cues from the Dodge Viper.

While Dodge did not reveal when it plans to formally unveil the Tomahawk, look for the slick supercar to eventually make its way into the virtual world of GT6 very soon. When it does arrive there, the Tomahawk will join a long list of Vision concepts that have already been uploaded into the game, including the Lexus LF-LC GT, as well as Peugeot's recently unveiled Vision Gran Turismo Concept. In the meantime Dodge has released a brief video of the Tomahawk in action.
