Fantasy Junction: A Treasure Trove for Car Collectors

Sometimes you go shopping for the fun of it, just to look around. You may end up buying something if you stumble upon the right item, but even if you don't, you can enjoy the window shopping thing.

This is something that many car lovers have experienced. It's not always easy to make that big of a commitment, but sometimes you can be so blown away that you have no choice but to sign on the dotted line.

If you do not want to fall prey to the automotive urge, you may want to steer clear of Fantasy Junction in Emeryville, California. Fantasy Junction is a dream come true for any automotive shopaholic. The operators are brokers of collectible cars and vintage race cars, and their showroom is utterly amazing.

A guy from Berkeley named Bruce Trenery started living the dream when he founded Fantasy Junction back in 1976. He is actually a race car driver in his own right, so it was only natural that he would indulge his passion and become one of the foremost automotive brokers in the country.

The inventory they have on display at Fantasy Junction is mind numbing. To be honest, I could espouse the virtues of just about every car they have, but one eye-catcher is a truly beautiful, shiny, midnight blue 1958 Bentley S1 Continental Flying Spur. This is an extremely rare four-window Flying Spur specimen, and the car has just 30,000 original miles on it. The Bentley can be yours for a mere $335,000.

Another car in the Fantasy Junction inventory that stands out is a 1937 Bugatti Special Roadster. The car is powered by an original 3.2-Litre Supercharged Inline 8-Cylinder, and it took experts 15 years to build it. As you might imagine, you are not going to get this car on the cheap. The sticker price is $785,000.

There are cars in the inventory that are in the five figures, so you shouldn't let these numbers scare you off if you are interested. Plus, if you have a suitable car to pass along, Fantasy Junction will sell it for you on a consignment basis.

Emeryville is right outside of San Francisco, so you may want to visit the showroom if you are in the Bay Area. The physical address is 1145 Park Avenue, and Fantasy Junction is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
