Shelby Unveils Raptor 700 Baja; Brings Whipple Supercharger and 700 Horsepower To Off-Road Crowd

Looking for more performance and off-road capability from your Raptor puchase? Shelby American may have the solution to your needs with the unveiling of a special limited production upgrade suite that is designed to bring out the Raptor's full potential.

Designed to be used on previous generation Ford F-150 SVT Raptors built between 2011 and 2014, the Raptor Baja 700 package utilizes a whole host of styling, performance, and interior upgrades that aim to make the Raptor stand out from the crowd, while also improving its off-road capability. A notable change that may appeal to performance seeking enthusiasts is the addition of an all-new 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger which helps pump boost into the potent 6.2-liter V8 while bigger throttle bodies, upgraded injectors, and a bigger heat exchanger pump up the engine's internals even further. The end result of all of these tweaks is sand dune-blasting performance with the truck capable of producing over 700 horsepower. This is a sizeable jump over the 411 horsepower that helps motivate the standard Ratpor and should allow the truck to boast improved lap times especially in Baja-type races.

While Shelby has not released formal performance figures for its Baja 700 package, the extra muscle is nicely complemented by an upgraded off-road performance suspension that allows the truck to tame and dominate a wide variety of road hazards and obstacles. The exterior tweaks are more subtle in comparison and are mostly limited to a graphics package that is plastered to the hood and tailgate, as well as the lower portion of the doors. A healthy number of Shelby badges and beefy BFGoodrich KO2 All-Terrain tires are also part of the package; interested buyers can also equip their rig with optional Rouge Racing front and rear bumpers that help give the Baja 700 a race-ready appearance. The interior of the Baja 700 carries over mostly unchanged, but Shelby designers have added new seats that promise to provide more support and comfort while a metal plaque denotes the trucks serial number and its place on the production run.

Speaking of that production run, Shelby will build only 50 examples of the Baja 700 at its factory in Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently on sale now, each one will boast an MSRP of $45,000, which does not include the cost of the donor Raptor as well as any optional extras. In our opinion, this is the perfect sendoff for the V8-powered Raptor, and we are eager to see what Shelby and other tuners will be able to produce when the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor rumbles its way onto dealer lots in the near future.
