Amelia Island Plays Host to RM Auction

We are always on the lookout for exciting automotive events, and there is nothing better than a trip to Florida this time of year. When you experience the Sunshine State just before the weather starts to warm up in your hometown, you get a taste of the good times that are right around the corner.

With the above in mind, there is an awesome event coming up this Saturday in Amelia Island, Florida. This idyllic destination is on a barrier island it shares with the town of Fernandina Beach. The island is right outside of Jacksonville, so you don't have to drive too far into Florida to get there.

The event that we are talking about is the RM Auction that will take place on Saturday, March 14th at the spectacular Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island. This is one of the most highly anticipated auctions each and every year, and there have been many world sales records set at Amelia Island.

Just last year a 1937 Delahaye 135 Competition Court Torpedo Roadster (pictured above) sold for $6.6 million on the island, and the total sales figure in 2014 was $35.9 million. If history repeats itself, this year will be another smasher, and there are some incredible cars going on the block.

One standout is a 1971 Lamborghini Miura SV. This car is powered by a mid-mount V12 that is rated at 385 horsepower, and many people believe that it is the first true "supercar." It is expected to bring home a super price to match. The estimated price is somewhere in the vicinity of $2.5 million.

Another attention getter is the 1930 Duesenberg Model J, a beautifully restored dual-cowl Phaeton. The silver stunner has a 420-cubic inch, 265-horsepower engine under the hood, and it should sell for around $1.3 million.

These are just two examples, and the list goes on and on. The RM Auction at Amelia Island and the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance will be something special, but in a very real sense, it is the icing on the cake. The island itself is something that everyone should experience, and the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island is a world-class resort. The resort boasts over 400 rooms, with 47 suites and four restaurants on-site. There are also tennis courts, a fitness center, and an 18-hole championship golf course.

This is an auction that you do not want to miss. To get the full story, visit this page: RM Auction Amelia Island.
