Inspiring Automotive Artistry: Count's Kustoms in Sin City

If you strip it down to bland, cold sterility, a car is a form of transportation, something that is designed to get you from point A to point B. Here's the dictionary definition: "a road vehicle, typically with four wheels, powered by an internal combustion engine and able to carry a small number of people."

Perhaps that's what a car is if you ask Frasier Crane's wife, Lilith, from the old (but venerable) Cheers sitcom, but to many people, a car is much more than an impersonal conveyor. If you look at it right, a car can be a true work of art, and it can be an expression of your personality on many different levels.

I live in Las Vegas, and there is more to the town than many people realize. The trappings of the Strip are not the focal point for most locals. We do the things that people everywhere do, and since the weather is great and there is a Southern California vibe, cool cars are part of the culture.

This is certainly embodied when you look at the work that is done by Count's Kustoms here in Sin City.

I like old cars and antiques, so I tune in to the History Channel quite a bit. One thing led to another, and I started watching Counting Cars, a show about the automotive customization and restoration that is done by Danny "Count" Koker and his crew at Count's Kustoms.

The guys on the show are fun to watch, and Danny himself comes across like a very cool and down to earth person. I'm entertained when I watch the show, but I'm also educated. It is surprising to find out that you can own the car that you always dreamed about at a surprisingly reasonable price.

If you are willing to pay for a new car, you could probably afford to get Danny to restore a true classic to its former glory and beyond. There is a lot of talent on the staff, and you can't help but salivate when you see some of the truly stunning custom vehicles that are presented to their customers.

I know that everyone does not have easy access to Count's Kustoms, but wherever you live, there are probably some passionate and talented restoration cats in town looking for new projects. The next time you want to treat yourself, look for a classic that needs some TLC and let Danny or someone like him work some automotive magic. When you see the end result, you'll be glad you did.
