Ford Taurus Presented to Man Who Wouldn't Quit

When you wake up in the morning and you look at the clock, you may take pause for a moment and lament the fact that you have to go to work. It would be nice to get a couple more hours of sleep, and, after you get up, play would be better than work, right?

Plus, there is that nasty commute. You have to put in all those hours on the job, and you also have to spend stressful time navigating traffic to get there and back.

This is the way that it is for most of us, and, indeed, it can seem like a grind at times. However, there is that old saying to take into consideration: "I used to complain because I had no shoes, but then I saw a man who had no feet."

Your commute may seem like a pain in the you-know-what, but the next time you feel that way, consider the plight of Detroit resident James Robertson. This factory worker, who is in his fifties, has faced a daily commute for the last 10 years that will completely blow your mind.

Because of the fact that he lives in Detroit and he works in Rochester Hills, which is over 20 miles away, Robertson has faced a daily challenge. How do you get to work when you don't have a car, and there is no public transportation that will get you from point A to point B and back?

For James, the answer has been a simple one: You hoof it, that's what you do. Robertson has been walking a total of 21 miles every day for the last decade to get to and from work. He has been taking a bus for a couple of miles, and then he's been putting one foot in front of the other.

By the way, he has never missed a day of work.

This story was recently published in the Detroit Free Press, and as you may imagine, it touched a lot of hearts. People have been donating funds to support him, and donations are well into the six figures. Plus, multiple car dealerships in Detroit have offered him cars to drive. He landed on a Ford Taurus, and he won't be walking to work for a while.

If your heart is still beating, you have to be moved by this story. The next time you hear someone tell you that hard work and perseverance will eventually pay off, you may want to listen to them.

I couldn't even imagine walking that far to and from work every day. The fact that he has never even missed a day a work in and of itself is impressive. I hope he gets everything he deserves and has earned!
