Ferrari Teases New Model

Ferrari has published a series of teaser images via social media that appear to preview an all-new model for the Italian supercar maker with rumors running rampant on what exactly Ferrari is promoting with the campaign.

While the teaser shots do not reveal many details about the model itself, the words power, passion, innovation, design, and performance are highlighted and boldy present with all four being united by the social media hashtag #"wordsarenotenough". While it is currently unknown what exactly is being previewed, a prime suspect that emerges is an updated version of the 458 Italia known as the 458 Modificata which could possibly go on sale in time for the 2016 model year. The theory gains even more traction when one considers that the 458 is expected to shelve its naturally aspirated 4.5-liter V8 for the 2016 model year. In its place will be an all-new 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 which first made its debut in the recently unveiled California T. Unlike that application though, the 3.8-liter in the Italia would make considerably more power with the engine possibly producing 666 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque. Both figures are healthy increases over the 4.5-liter, and should help make the Italia a relevant choice in an ever changing supercar landscape.

The new engine would be hooked up to an updated seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox which would allow the 458 to rocket its way to 60mph in a scant 3.3 seconds, before reaching a final top speed of 201 mph. In addition to helping the Italia increase its performance credentials, the transmission would also help the car achieve higher fuel economy, which in turn would help the Modena-based company comply with tougher European emissions regulations that force automakers to reduce the overall CO2 emissions from their entire vehicle lineup. Meanwhile, the exterior styling of the 458 is expected to recieve a host of minor updates including a revised front fascia, as well as several new aerodynamic aids that aim to make the car much more aerodynamic than before. Expect the rear fascia to recieve similar tweaks as well as aerodynamic aids of its own to balance out the styling and aero properties of the vehicle.

Look for more details about the 458 Modificata (assuming this is indeed the model that Ferrari is promoting with this social media campaign) to emerge next Tuesday when the car will be fully unveiled online. Other details such as pricing, final fuel economy figures, and the final launch date would be unveiled closer to its official dealer debut.
