2015 Detroit Auto Show Is Underway

There are some cities that are synonymous with certain things, and Detroit is certainly one of them. The Motor City is the cradle of the American automotive manufacturing industry, and there has been a lot of history made in Detroit.

The assembly line is one of the great innovations that started in Michigan, and there are those who think that Henry Ford was the first person to use an assembly line to mass-produce motor vehicles. Though Ford certainly made his mark throughout his remarkable career, he was not the first industrialist to use the assembly line.

This distinction goes to Ransom Eli Olds, who was the man behind the Oldsmobile company. However, Ford took the concept to another level, and this is why he tends to get the credit.

Detroit has had its problems over recent decades as we all know, but it is still considered to be the epicenter of the American automotive industry. As such, the North American International Auto Show that is held in the Motor City is a very big deal.

At this moment, all industry eyes are focused on Detroit, because the show is underway. People in the automotive industry press get first dibs, because there is a Press Preview that takes place during the first two days of the show, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Industry Preview takes place on the following two days.

For the rest of us, access to the show will begin on January 17th, and the last day of the show is January 25th. There are over 500 amazing vehicles to feast your eyes on, so this is a mega-event that is much anticipated throughout the year.

It looks like the Ford Motor Company made a big splash in its hometown during the Press Preview. They unveiled the spectacular new GT supercar, a car that is making a comeback. It was last produced in 2006, and it will be available again during the second half of next year.

They also gave the Detroit press a look at the new Shelby GT350R Mustang that was shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show a couple of months ago.

The third impressive vehicle presented by Ford was the 2017 F-150 Raptor, a powerful and intrepid "go anywhere real fast" pickup.

You can still get tickets, and you will certainly get your fill of automotive innovation if you can make it to the Motor City for the 2015 North American International Auto Show.
