Hennessey Unveils Insane 600hp Replacement for the F-150 Raptor

When John Hennessey gets ahold of a vehicle, things tend to get a bit crazy (Remember the 270 mph Lotus Exige that was dubbed the Venom GT?). Blowers get bolted on, horsepower goes through the roof, and ordinarly fast cars are transformed into roadgoing missiles. Lucky for us, Capt. Overkill has created yet another Frankenmobile. And this one’s designed to fill in for the yet-to-be-released 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor…

Back in the early 90s, John Hennessey cashed out of his toxic spill cleanup business, and started poking holes in the stratosphere using tire smoke. His crazy-fast Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 finished 4th in the Nevada Open Road Challenge, then set a class record of 177 mph on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Hennessey’s self-designed modifications proved reliable, and helped to launch Hennessey Performance as a premier American tuner. Two decades later, Hennessey Performance created the world’s fastest production vehicle (the Venom GT), and now they’ve created a monster truck to fill the void left by Ford’s Baja-ready Raptor. So meet the 600hp VelociRaptor600. And yes, kids, it’s as crazy as the little dinosaur that it’s named after.

Based on the all-new 2015 Ford F-150 FX4, this aluminum-bodied dino-truck gets an 8 psi Roots-type supercharger glued to the top of its 5.0L Coyote V8. Hennessey Performance also adds new fuel injectors, a proprietary engine management program, a high-volume intake, and an equally high volume stainless exhaust system. The result is a whopping 600hp, which is a whole helluva lot more than the 385hp in the stock 2015 F-150 FX4, or the 411hp in the 2014 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.

Besides all of the under-hood goodies, the 2015 Hennessey VelociRaptor 600 gets a set of 17-inch Hennessey beadlock-look wheels, shod in BFGoodrich All-Terrain rubber. Options include an off-road coilover suspension, Brembo brakes, winch-ready bumpers, and LED lighting. Pricing starts at $73,500 (including the 2015 Ford F-150 FX4 Super Crew), which isn’t bad for a fullsize truck that can hit 60 mph in less than five seconds (according to an Autoblog interview with John Hennessey). Wonder if Ford’s own dino-truck will be able to top it?
