Pricing announced for the 2015 Lexus NX

The compact luxury crossover market is white-hot at the moment. Everybody from BMW to Lincoln is vying to sell the newly appointed district manager’s wife a leather-trimmed Cute-UTE. Content and style is paramount to making a sale, and the uber-angular 2015 Lexus NX looks ready to claim a sizable chunk of the market. But what do you get for your husband’s hard earned money? Let’s find out…

The 2015 Lexus NX is a 5-place compact crossover that shares its platform with the 2015 Toyota RAV4. But Lexus basically re engineered the entire chassis, adding frame braces to reduce flex, and redesigning key suspension components to improve control in the bends. There’re loads of sound insulation and active noise cancellation to keep the cabin luxuriously quiet. Even the engine noise is fake, with an adjustable engine soundtrack playing through the speakers if you desire. Power goes to the front wheels, or all-four. And you can even order a 35 mpg hybrid.

The base 2015 Lexus NX200t starts at $35,405, and the AWD version rings in at $36,805. Standard kit includes power everything, a configurable 4.2-inch TFT gauge display, a 7.0-inch infotainment screen that’s controlled by Lexus’ mouselike Remote Touch Interface, HD Radio, and Bluetooth connectivity with a cache feature.

The 2015 Lexus NX will be available in five trim levels: Base, Comfort, Premium, Luxury, and F Sport. The Comfort trim adds $505 to the price of the NX200t / $285 to the NX300h, and it adds a power tilt/telescoping steering column, with a three-memory driver’s seat. The Premium trim adds heated/cooled front seats, a moonroof, LED turn signals/running lights, and 18-inch wheels. This equipment bundle costs $2,890 on the NX200t, $2,045 on the 2015 Lexus NX F Sport, and $2,670 on the Hybrid. The $4,885 Luxury package tops off the little Lexus with leather, Linear Mocha wood trim, a heated tiller, rain-sensing wipers, a power rear hatch, and a 2,000lb towing package. Ala carte options include navigation and a branded 10-speaker audio system for $2,140, and LED headlamps for $1,160.

The hybrid 2015 Lexus NX300h stickers at $40,645 with FWD, and $42,235 for the AWD hybrid. Pricing hasn’t been announced for the 2015 Lexus NX F Sport, but we can tell you that upgrades are limited to suspension and cosmetics. The gas-powered 2015 Lexus NX200t is motivated by a 235hp 2.0L turbo-4 (this is actually the first time that Lexus has used a turbocharger on a production vehicle). The 2015 Lexus NX300h gets a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle 4-pot, a CVT, some batteries, and an electric motor. The result is 194 combined horsepower, and fuel economy figures of 35 city/31 hwy/33 combined with FWD, and 33/30/32 with AWD.

Lexus sells over 100,000 copies of its midsize RX crossover each year, and they have high hopes for the pint-sized 2015 Lexus NX. From the looks of it, Audi, Mercedes, and BMW should be worried.
