Rocker Hagar Living Large With Ferrari LaFerrari

There are a handful of status symbols that speak for themselves without really saying anything. One of them is the automotive masterpiece called the Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena, Italy back in 1898, so he was an early pioneer of the automotive industry in Europe. When he was just 10 years old, he attended the Circuit di Bologna auto race, and he was hooked for life.

He served in the Italian army during World War I, and when he got out, he landed a job at the CMN motor company. That was the start of something big, though he could never envision the level of success he would be able to attain.

The young motorhead moved on to Alfa Romeo when the decade of the 1920s started, and he began racing their cars. By 1924 he was entrenching himself as a force to be reckoned with on the racing circuit, and that year he went to Pescara to capture the top prize at the Coppa Acerbo.

In 1929,Scuderia Ferrari came into existence. This was the Alfa Romeo racing team, and Enzo was the top dog.

Enzo Ferrari eventually struck out on his own, and the first road-ready Ferrari was produced in 1947. Since then the nameplate has risen to legendary status.

The old man died in 1988, but his 69-year-old son Piero is still around to carry on the family tradition. Piero recently had the opportunity to brush elbows with rock 'n roll royalty when the Red Rocker Sammy Hagar traveled to Italy with his wife to order a brand-new Ferrari LaFerrari.

Hagar made a lot of money making music, but he padded his bankroll when he sold his Cabo Wabo tequila brand about 10 years ago. (Note to self: If you are ever a famous rock 'n roll star, make alcohol.)

The LaFerrari is a truly exclusive supercar. Only 499 of these cars are going to be built, and Hagar won't be driving 55 in his custom crafted vehicle. Powered by a 1000 horsepower, 6.3-liter V-12 engine, the car has a top speed of 217 miles per hour, and it can reach 60 miles per hour in less than three seconds.

As you might imagine, the amazing Ferrari LaFerrari comes with a rather hefty price tag. Hagar will be laying down around $1.4 million for his one-of-a-kind cream colored beauty, but if you are the man who has everything, it's worth every penny.
