2015 KIA Soul Arriving Now

If you're out and about at your local KIA dealership, you should see the new 2015 Soul available for purchase or test drive any day now. Design-wise it hasn't seen any major changes, but there are some packages with cool upgrades and techy stuff that may attract buyers.

The gas-powered base model starts at $15,900, only around $200 above last year's base price. There hasn't been a price released for the EV yet.

For around $900 you can upgrade to the Umber Package which adds a little fancy to the small car. Included in the package are premium Napa leather seats and matching accents on the door armrests. It also includes Black Gloss wheel inserts.

If you spring for the Primo Package you also get a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, and push-button start, among other minor luxuries. These will set you back $3000 though.

Then there is the Uvo eServices which provide a myriad of downloadable apps free of charge to help your vehicle remember where it's parked (and share the info with you via your smart phone) and provide hands-free control of audio and navigation systems. There are four new apps available with the 2015 Soul which have really cool sounding names like Geo Fence, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, and Driving Score. These seem to have something to do with parents keeping a check on teen drivers, but I wonder how long it will take said teens to figure ways to hack the system.

The new Soul is equipped with a 130hp, 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed manual transmission which can be upgraded to a 6-speed automatic.
