Two Recalls from Ford

Ford is recalling 2,124 Escape SUVs for a problem with the glass roof panel which “may have an improperly cured urethane bond between the glass and the attaching bracket,” according to Ford, which may “result in noise, water leakage or separation of the glass panel from the vehicle, potentially increasing the risk of accident or injury.”

The affected vehicles were built at the Louisville Assembly Plant between October 15th and October 22nd, 2013. Ford will replace the front roof glass panel if an inspection shows that the date on the panel label falls within the parameters of the recall.

Also being recalled are 197 Fiestas because of a potential fuel leak issue. According to Ford, “Fuel Tanks built during a specific time period at the supplier may be missing and adhesive layer. Without this adhesive layer, a fuel tank may leak fuel from a seam. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.”

The affected vehicles were built at the Cuautitlan Assembly Plant between October 25th, 2013 and February 27th, 2014. Ford will replace the fuel tank on affected cars.

Neither of these recalls are connected with any accidents, injuries, or deaths. These are both internal safety recalls by Ford and are not posted on the National Traffic Safety Administration’s website. Both recalls will begin on July 14th.

Ford may be reached at 1-800-392-3673 with any questions.
