Military Discounts Offered By Auto Makers

In an effort to say “thank you” to all our service personnel, several auto makers have programs to make purchasing their vehicles easier for this group.

Toyota offers rebates on new and some pre-owned vehicles running through January 5th of next year. The program covers active military along with retirees and veterans who are within one year of their honorable discharge date. It also extends to household members of eligible qualifying personnel. Toyota will give a $500 rebate on new Toyota and Scion purchases and $750 on new and Certified Pre-Owned Lexus vehicles. To qualify customers must provide proof of military status or active service at the time of purchase and must receive a qualifying income and credit approval from either Toyota Financial Services or Lexus Financial Service. The vehicle must be purchased through a Toyota, Scion or Lexus Dealer.

Ford offers $500 bonus cash to military members toward the purchase or lease of any 2013-2015 Ford vehicle except the Mustang Shelby GT, the Mustang Boss 302, the Focus Electric or the F-150 Raptor. Buyers must take delivery by July 7th.

General Motors is offering the GM Military Discount but only through June 30th. Its program covers all active duty, reserve members, veterans, and retirees. It also includes their spouses. The discount applies to eligible new Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles. Up to two vehicles may be purchased with the discount in a calendar year. It can also be combined with other offers from the dealer. The discount is not a set amount and will depend on the vehicle you choose.

Honda has a printable Military Appreciation Certificate available on their website. It entitles active duty or reserves members, veterans within 180 days of separation and retirees and all their spouses to $500 toward the purchase of a new Honda vehicle. Buyers must provide proof of military status and receive credit approval through Honda Financial Services.

There are more out there. If you are interested in a certain make or model, there’s very likely a discount for it if you do a search.
