Ford Super-Duty Recall

Notice to all owners of Ford F-250, F-350, F-450, and F-550 trucks!
The Ford Motor Company is recalling 3,976 2015 Super Duty vehicles with 6.2-liter gas or 6.7-liter diesel engines which have 6R140 transmissions. A transmission control software error was discovered on March 26th at the Kentucky assembly plant.

According to Ford and documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration the software can cause the vehicle to engage in the “reverse” gear for about 1.5 seconds when the driver shifts from “park” to “drive”. Even though this is a very small span of time, the automaker believes it may be long enough to lead to a crash since the driver would be unaware that he was in “reverse”. And with all the hype over the consequences of late or non-existent recalls, better safe than sorry.

Of the 3,976 vehicles all but three were sold in the United States. The location of those three was not available.

There have been no accidents, injuries or fatalities associated with this issue and Ford will be sending out recall notices to all affected owners. The software will be updated at no charge to alleviate all danger.

The recall is set to begin early this month, but owners with questions can contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673. As usual, you may take your vehicle to your local dealer for the software update even if you have not received your notice. If you are not sure you have one of the affected trucks your dealer will be able to tell you.
