2014 Chevy Sonic: Same Price for More Stuff

The new 2014 Chevrolet Sonics are on dealer lots and available for $14,995 for a standard subcompact and $15,595 for a hatchback. Neither of these prices has been increased from the 2013 models. Even without a price hike, however, there are new goodies included, and even more available for a little bit more cash.

The new trend in safer technology in reverse, the rearview camera, is standard on the LTZ and RS models; it is now available on all new Sonics. All come with an Ecotec 1.4-liter turbocharged engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. If you prefer an automatic, you can get that too. The Ecotec engine gives it 40 mpg on the highway.

Other options, if you want to spring for them, include forward collision alert, lane departure warning, power sunroof, front fog lamps, and the Chevy MyLink radio, which is compatible with Apple’s Siri Eyes Free for iPhone users. There are also available navigation and satellite radio apps which can be used by anyone.

This little car is the first and only small car to receive a 5-Star Overall Safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration due in part to its 10 standard airbags. Kelly Blue Book gave it a Consumer Rating of 8.6 out of 10.

Chevy has added to three new colors to Sonics available choices: Ashen Gray Metallic, Red Hot, and Cool Blue.
